    They are very fragile and crumbly and difficult to remove intact. If you don't mind putting down some kind of covering to catch the pieces and take steps to protect yourself from dust (mask, eye shielding etc,) give it a good clout with a length of wood or something  and watch it magically transform into a pile of fragments. I wouldn't dream of paying to get rid of an abandoned wasp nest. As previously mentioned, they don't come back to an abandoned nest (nor do magpies - noisy squabbling brutes).
