What are my rights regarding a new car I have just collected from a large dealership?   I test drove a car which I was informed had the same specifications as the one I would receive,  however there is no reversing camera on my new car and there was definitely one on the one I tried.
TIA.

What did the specification sheet / brochure say for the car you ordered?   Exact make and model.  Was the reverse camera an option?
Often, reverse camera can be added as an after market accessory, so that may be the solution.  Not sure who will need to pay for this.
  • It was from the main dealership and I was verbally told that the specs for the car I was taking for the test drive would be the same as the one I was purchasing.  I couldn't test drive the actual car as I had to wait for it to be delivered.
I never saw any brochure or specification sheet whilst at the dealer and as the salesman had said they would be the same as the car i had tried, I  didn't think it would be an issue.

A verbal assurance is worth the paper it's written on.

It's entirely possible that the salesman meant "Well, that's a 1.2 SE, and the one you are ordering is a 1.2 SE"... with the reversing camera being an optional extra on 1.2 SE. You ordered a 1.2 SE, you got a 1.2 SE. You didn't do a factory order, but a car from stock - so what you got was that specific 1.2 SE from stock...

What exact model of car is it?
Have you looked at the manufacturer's website yet to see what the precise spec shown is?

The other possibility is that the spec has changed, and the car you got from stock is a slightly older model built to the old spec.

Car make and model and year?

    Two options.

If you want a reversing camera the dealer will be able to fit one.  Ask for it to be done.
If you want a vehicle with a factory fitted camera go back and demand what you were promised.

Ford Puma st-x 70 plate.  I've since looked at the brochure online and the reversing camera is not standard on any of the models, so I'm very annoyed that I was told the specs would be the same as the car I had taken for a test drive.  I've only had the car since Wednesday and I've contacted the garage who has said it was a "miscommunication".
If the garage is not prepared to foot the bill, am I within my rights to return the vehicle due to it being missold?

I am quite surprised that any one buys a brand new car without researching models etc. first.  Maybe I am just old fashioned.
Was it a stock car, or factory order?
Did you achieve a keen price?
The good news is, a reverse camera can be added as an aftermarket accessory.
EDIT:  A reverse camera is an easy retrofit.  If the car you viewed had the full driver assistance pack, that is possibly not available other than as factory fit.

"First edition". Different spec to the OP's.

    https://www.ford.co.uk/cars/new-puma/models-specs/st-line-x
Reverse camera is not standard, but part of the £900 optional "Driver Assistance Pack".
"AEB by Radar/Camera, BLIS with CTA and Active Braking, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Evasive Steering with manual transmission (ACC is not available on ST), ACC Stop and Go incl. Traffic Jam Assist (Automatic Only), Active Park Assist, Front Parking Sensors, Rear View Camera"
That pack is an extra-cost optional extra on all five trim-levels of Puma available currently. Titanium is the entry-level, ST-Line one up, then the OP's ST-Line X, Vignale, with ST as top-spec.

If the OP ordered a car from stock, I'm sure the presence of such an option would have been listed if it had been fitted.
The car test-driven was, I presume, an ST-Line X? So the salesman was not incorrect - there was just a misunderstanding over what "the specs would be the same" meant.
This is not "mis-selling", it's buyer's remorse from failure to do reasonable due diligence pre-purchase.

Ordinarily I would be too, but when it comes to some  internet posters, I'm not surprised  " I was told, yeah but the salesman said...."
It's just dissapointing that the OP had not asked the question directly about the camera or any other additional extras that they desire before signing the credit agreement.

Did the dealer admit their mistake?  It sounds like they have by saying it was a miscommunication.

I had a similar problem several years ago.  I specified a certain option which, when my car arrived, it didn't have.  Although he assured me over email that he had updated my order, the dealer hadn't done so.

The dealer gave me the option to reject the car and order me another one (4 month wait) or take the one that was incorrect.

I guess you have the same option - reject it and ask for another one, this time with a reversing camera.
