Hi there,
Apologies if this has been asked before on here.
It's a simple situation: I've got 2 passports one of which is British.
Now when there is a lockdown can I travel to a holiday destination from the UK using my other passport as long as it complies with the entry criteria of the destination country?
For example: Can I fly from London let's say to Cuba with TUI? Or just the country my other passport belongs to?

Thanks

You'll need to reenter the country with the same passport as you bought the tickets with.

Having 2 passports doesn’t exempt you from lockdown rules. It is illegal to leave home without a valid reason.

Heathrow Airport is busy - I’m there a few times a day... if you can afford quarantine and PCR tests, I doubt very much you’ll be stopped at any point.

The passport you enter with is irrelevant to most countries, so long as you satisfy the visa requirements. Having multiple passports simply means it's easier to gain visa free access to more countries in many cases.

You still cannot leave home without a valid reason. This is a residency-based requirement, not a nationality-based one.

Define home. Based on what you are saying I cannot even travel to the country of my second passport. Which of course is a nonsense.

It's not for silvercar to define home. It's defined in the law by our elected leaders for all of us to follow. The relevant wording is:

"No person ... may leave or be outside of the place where they are living without reasonable excuse"

Based on your OP it sounds as if you are living in the UK. Nationality is not important, we all count as being a 'person'.

If you were to decide to go to Cuba for a purpose that doesn't qualify as a reasonable excuse you'd be breaking the law. You can think it nonsense all you like, but you'd be breaking the law and shouldn't be surprised to get fined.

As previous posts, in reality you'd probably get away with it. If stopped you could find a plausible lie, such as you're going to visit your sick relative and quality for essential travel under the visiting someone at end of life excuse. That said, being able to get away with it and/or lie your way out of a fine is different to being permitted by law to travel overseas for leisure.

if you do choose to go anywhere, ensure you are financially prepared if you were to be stuck somewhere for months with the ever changing situation with air travel. Also be prepared for the place you are travelling to being in full lockdown....it would not be much of a holiday of you are unable to leave your accommodation and stuck there for months.
Many of us are in dire need of a holiday - due to personal circumstances I have not been abroad in 4 years and desperate to go away but cannot see the benefit of going anywhere whilst all this is going on. I have booked for the end of the year and keeping fingers crossed for some normality otherwise it will be shifted into 2022.
  • What is the dilemma ?

Dilemma definition: a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially ones that are equally undesirable.

Your question is “ can I travel to a holiday destination from the UK using my other passport”?
Answer : ( from Government website )International travel
“Foreign nationals are subject to the ‘Stay at Home’ regulations. You should not travel abroad unless it is permitted. This means you must not go on holiday.”

The only “dilemma” in this situation is your choice to obey the law or break the law .
  • Regardless of the legalities, would your conscience really allow you to travel from this stricken island with really high infection rates and potentially take a new variant with you to a poorer country?  Just so you can have a bit of sun?  I'm sure you aren't that selfish.

There's no knowing what the true extent of Covid is at the destination either.
