Paying via Klarna before goods reach me

I've ordered a new bed, and have financed it through Klarna. The bed is on a long lead time, and my Klarna payments were due to start approx 3mths before the bed will be be in my possession. I therefore asked Klarna to pause payments until the bed is with me. However, the bed supplier is now saying that, as Klarna are not sophisticated enough to anticipate preorder, it's correct that they start to take payments prior to the bed arriving. Apparently my order is now 'auto stopped' and may be reallocated to another customer unless I commence payments to Klarna.
I'm not sure where I stand with this? Should I really be expected to start paying for goods I haven't received? I chose Klarna as I didn't want to pay up front, in advance of the bed arriving.

If you paid in full up front you'd be paying before the goods arrived so why would paying by instalments be any different?

That’s the way Klarna works.0

They can comprehend pre orders, they still however choose to start taking payment at a set time after ordering rather than delivery. If you were unhappy with those terms you should have made alternative payment arrangements.nik_k said:

That will be because the Sofa co use a "Regulated" finance provider, which Klarna are not.nik_k said:

I’m not necessarily saying that I’m unhappy with the terms, I’m just saying that they seem to be different than many other purchases I’ve made in the past.Fosterdog said:

Regulated as in subject to finance regulations, and not free to do as they choose? Not sure of the distinction.born_again said:

Regulated as in you have FCA protection. Klarna are simply a co who have agreed with the retailer to pay them for your purchase (no doubt with a big discount) while you pay them over 3 months.
At one point Klarna were not even interested in helping people that had not got the goods from retailers.Life in the slow lane0
