Which insurance for iphone - Really want it to cover loss as well as accidents?

Just got a new iPhone. I want to get good mobile phone insurance in place ideally for loss as well as damage. Has anyone got experience of mobile phone insurance. I know there is an article on this site but would be really grateful if anybody’s actually had to call on some insurance and can actually confirm it paid out. Is it worth buying applecare if it does not cover loss?  Thank you.

I just have the one that is packaged with my bank account.
I'm with First Direct and for £15 a month on our joint account we get travel & mobile insurances and car breakdown cover. 
The phone insurance covers theft, loss and accidental damage for both of us with a £99 excess.
Might not be worth £7.50 a month each for just the phone insurance, but overall with the other benefits its probably a decent price.

Oh your other option is to check your home insurance, you can often add specific items to that and may even be covered for items taken out of the home anyway.

OP, Nationwide FlexPlus bank account @ £13/m offers mobile phone insurance (I think £75 excess on iPhones) for unlimited handsets provided they’re all registered at the same address - you get coverage for loss, accidental damage & theft. You also get breakdown car insurance, travel insurance and fee free overseas cash withdrawals on their debit card, though of course not many of us will be travelling abroad at present but no doubt the last 2 might come handy in future.
