Can Virgin Media increase my bills?

In July I signed a 12 month contract with Virgin for £27 a month which would revert to £42 a month in January 2022 (the agreed to fix the price for 18 months). Earlier this month they told me they would be adding £3.50 onto the monthly bills. Can they do this legally? Surely it means my contract isn't worth the paper it's written on? When I rang them today they said they would reduce it back to £27 only if I sign a new 18 month contract, which I am reluctant to do because the service, while OK now, has been patchy in the past. They told me I can cancel until 11 February but I am angry that they think this is acceptable behaviour! I'm attaching a copy of the contract, without identifying info. There is nothing I can see in the t's and c's about price hikes but I guess I might have missed it?? Any advice please?

Do you mean £3.50 price increase ?? . If so its part of the contract you took out just like 99% of ISPs .

If you're on a fixed-price deal, VM should honour this until the end date - in your case, Jan 2nd 2022

AFAIK, the only telcom provider offering fixed price contracts is TalkTalk.
All the others can increase the price within minimum term if they wish.
