Tonik Energy - Still awaiting credit refunds from Scottish Power the appointed provider

scs07 said:I have been contacting SP every fortnight since the middle of October and generally have been receiving the reply we will refund you in the next two weeks, the last reply at the end of December was we will pay you by the middle of January. Tried to put in an official complaint but they say that because I am not a customer I can’t. Now using resolver which I hope will escalate things at the end of this week. Can you complain to the obudsman if you were never a customer of Scottish Power? I left tonik in August and it took a month to get a final bill which made sense and then my repeated attempts to get a refund for my £200 balance were ignored before they went bust.
You did state the Scottish Power said you weren't a customer, and as a result you cannot refer to the ombudsman.
Also you said you left Tonik in August, and received a final bill which would have been September, who has been supplying your energy since then?.
Former other half was with Tonik transferred to Scottish Power under the SOLR process and received a balance refund roughly in mid December, her neighbour who attempted switching wasn't transferred and was told by Scottish Power that they weren't responsible as she wasn't their customer and gave her details to contact Tonik's administrators.
Not direct involvement myself just going on what they said, hope you sort this out somehow,I dont envy you dealing with Scottish Power though.

“ All outstanding credit balances, including money owed to both existing and former domestic customers of Tonik, will also be honoured “by Scottish Power”. Scottish Power will absorb the costs of honouring customers’ credit balances “ per the ofgem statement on the administration of Tonik.0

Scottish power are responsible for all tonik former customers whether you switched to them or not, I am still waiting for mine despite forwarding a copy of the final bill to them and them saying it will be actioned.0

Hi. I received my cheque from Scottish Power for the full amount that I was expecting.

Have now complained to the ombudsman after receiving another email from Scottish power saying I will receive a cheque in the next fortnight, probably the 5th time I have been told that in four months. SP have rejected my complaint saying I wasn’t a customer of theirs. If the ombudsman upholds their view I don’t know what I can do, it would be rediculous that there is no complaint mechanism.

Do you mind me asking if you had an outstanding balance with Scottish power?
I am an ex-Yorkshire energy customer and despite their message on their website saying it would be applied to the account the phone call I had today suggests that it will be paid by cheque regardless of any outstanding balance.

Hi... No problem in asking. I was switching away from Tonik around the time they ceased trading last year. There was a balance due to me but the transfer to my new supplier had not fully taken effect. I think there was a gap of about 8-10 days between Tonik stopping and the first day of my new contract so I take it that for that brief period I was regarded as a 'customer' of Scottish Power. If that is correct then presumably my surplus funds would have been regarded as transferred to SP. I assume that's why they paid the balance on my Tonik account over to me. Whatever the reason, the cheque has been paid in to my bank account now!Exile28 said:

I confess to being a little puzzled that SP appear to have made no deduction for an estimate of the cost of gas and electricity for the time I was with them - I was still receiving a supply of both from someone...
Cheers,

I’m still waiting for my Tonik credit from Scottish Power despite my bill being finalised in October. Tonik say they’ve sent it over, SP say they haven’t received it. It’s been 14 days since Tonik last told me they’d notified SP and still no cheque. Any advice on what I can do? I’m owed over a thousand pounds. It’s wrong that they can hold onto peoples money like this.0

Still waiting here Scottish power are horrendous to deal with be at your a resolved case but they just say there’s an ongoing complaint0

I'm an ex-tonik customer (switched suppliers just before they went into administration) and am still waiting for my credit balance to be returned to me. Scottish Power have been useless but I have just spoken to the administrators who have said that they are aiming to have all ex-customers details passed over to Scottish Power by the end of April.0
