Shell broadband contract change

I've been with Shell basic broadband for some months with all OK so far, but recently had an email saying they are forcing me to upgrade to fibre and charging me an extra £2 per month for something I have not consented to, nor want. Shell agent refuses to return me to standard broadband. Shell are still advertising the standard broadband. Can a telecomms company do this forced change of contract without your consent, and charge you more for something you don't want?
