Take a guess at build year

Hello, my friend thinks this building is from the 80s, the agent said 1890s although it sounds like a wild guess from them..
What do you think the year is?
I read 80s buildings could have issues with roofs, but this seems like a proper purpose built, it has bricks on the back side, strangely enough building on the right has the same internal layout, freeholder etc
I was told by a friend that freeholder could put a flat above me but hopefully this will never happen 😅
Many thanks in advance ☺️

I used old maps to figure out how old my house is. I had a good idea but I found the earliest map it was on to narrow it down.

It's not 1980s if that's what you mean by "80s"? 1890s looks much more likely to me, could be a bit later. Obviously bits of it may have been replaced along the way.

    Looks Edwardian to me. Post-Victorian, pre-art deco. 1900, 1910s, 1920s.

The property next to it on the right might be 1980s. You can see it is structurally quite different. So it is a bit curious that the configuration is so similar.

It's on the 1898 OS 1:2,500 map (or something with the same footprint anyway).

I would go with Edwardian, 1900-1910

If it's on the 1898 Map I would not expect it to be much earlier than that 1880 at the earliest.

Another vote here for late Victorian/pre-WW1

    1980s...? Seriously?

the agent said 1890s although it sounds like a wild guess from them..

If the OP believes an agent who deals with property every day has made a 'wild guess' at 1890s, it's fair to assume they really did think their friend's estimate of1980s was more likely......or they might be hard of hearing!
  • The inside building layout is exactly the same as the one on the right, also from the back both buildings are the same and share the same garden and parking..

The sales manager that mentioned 1890s seemed oblivious as he said combi boiler but it isn’t..It has one of them system boilers

I wonder if there was a fire and they made the front differently
