Is anyone else having trouble with Utility Point energy company? They do not answer the phone, and have failed to refund over £900 that they owe me.

Wow, how'd you let your credit get that high!!
Have you just switched away or are you still currently a customer? How long since you last spoke to them.
Have you asked for a credit refund and they have said they will give you one, or are you trying to contact them for the first time?
Send an email to them with the title COMPLAINT - Credit refund, and explain in detail whats happened and what you would like done.
If then they don't respond you can go to the ombudsman.
I was with utility point last year and had a very good experience with them, but more recently more people are having problems with refunds after switching away.0 -
They pulled the same stunt with customers this time last year.
Nov - Feb (ish) they just weren't refunding customers their credits and were waiting until the final hour of ombudsman imposed deadlines.
They've managed to somehow survive since then, however if you still wish to give money to the directors you can always switch your elec to Neon Reef who are owned by the same people.0 -
£900 refund......did you ever read your meter.....if not you only have yourself to blame0

There's a Facebook group for people waiting for refunds. It seems that an email to Christina Clifford might work in some cases - otherwise it looks like the small claims court is only option that gets results.0

I dont know how long its taken the OP to generate a £900 credit, but that's equivalent to overpaying by around £75 a month in one year.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
A lot of toxicity out there on this thread... yet very little for Utility Point who are doing this to multiple customers. (Although the forum is heavily biased towards price over service). There's now 3-4 people who have pointed out the big credit that OP left, I don't really think it needs any more bullying at this stage.
The £900 could have been for many factors - Utility Point have a refer a friend scheme and had recently been offering £100 for each referral. This could had been a factor in the amount of credit.
Even if readings were given, I wouldn't be surprised if Utility Point purposely have direct debits of their customers 50% higher than they should be to ensure they have the cash-flow to keep themselves going.
If OP was one of the only people with this issue then I may have sided with you blaming it fully on them. However there are countless examples on trustpilot and twitter of people having the same issue, both now and last year.11 -
We have a high winter use of electric, so pay fixed amount each month to spread the cost, around £230 per month. I switched in October, so had built up the "summer" payments as a credit. Had we switched in April , say, I would have owed them money. We shall see if they refund soon

I am in a similar position in that i just cannot contact them at all (they don't answer the phones, don't operate the chatbot, don't respond on Twitter - at least not to me!) i only have a £75 credit and tbf I am happy with how little i am paying per month and would like to reduce it further if possible by fixing for 12 months (no wonder they are going bust..) however I am nervous about continuing with a company that seems to provide no customer service whatsoever in case i have a genuine issue at some point
Should i just stick it out and run down that credit through the rest of winter and then see what happens in Spring?0
