GERS I think Sparkle could actually be psychic! I leave the carrier out for a couple of days prior to her appointment and she happily goes in and out of it and even has a nap in there but seems to sense when she is going to be locked in it and runs amok with claws sharpened in readiness. . Once in the car, however, she happily curls up and sleeps on the little journey. And once at the vet she is happy to let him handle and examine her without a fight. It'll be me needing the tranquiliser before her next appointment! One of our dogs sensed when she was going to the vet and we had a job getting her in the car and then she had to be dragged and pushed into the surgery."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12

Morning all from a dull and drizzly place.
TA; our last cat was dreadful to put in the carrier and I had many scratches and a couple of holes in t shirts to prove it. It was a 2 person job and in the end we used an old towel and just wrapped her up in it, which helped a bit. We used to dread taking her to the vets because of it.
Today we are having a couple of portions of chilli I found in the freezer for dinner, along with (MSE content!) the remains of a shop bought baguette that DH made into garlic bread yesterday so that should be yummy. He does make lovely garlic bread and it's always in demand for family bbqs. I also made a tea loaf, soaking the fruit in Yorks**** tea for a couple of hours and then adding the rest of the ingredients. So easy but I shall cut off some slices and freeze them for another time so we don't pig out on it all at once! I could do with losing a stone in weight but am not doing all my usual activities so must try harder not to put any more weight on. I just don't feel motivated enough to do things like online Zumba, which I used to enjoy as a proper live class.
Other than that I am playing a tune new to me for a Zoom dance session this afternoon so must do a bit more practice for that. We had our fruit, veg and eggs delivered after lunch yesterday but tomorrow I must brave the shops for milk and bread.
Have a good day everyone and I hope all goes well for you.13 -
Morning all
Wet here would be lovy to see the sun
Thinking of RR Hester and others
I'm having a day off basically a day away from the laptop We have been told we can only carry over a maximum of 5 days so a few odd days coming up
Was looking forward to a lie in this morning as DH on days then at 4.45 am he bounds in the bed room telling me he has a puncture and needs my car!!!
After moving around of cars off he popped and it took me ages to drop off again. Now trying to see if tyre people will come to the house or if he will have to sort in the morning ( he is on nights tomorrow)
Think dinner will be toad in the hole tonight as its quick and easy last night DH got delayed by traffic took him 2 hours to get home
Hope everyone has a good Wednesday
Keep safe and well

Morning all
Raining here and very foggy it is meant to get up to 10deg though so positivly tropical !! I did not have a good night and tossed and turned for a lot of it so Im late up this morning, never mind I have nowhere to go anyway.
As I suspected would happen the evil ex did not turn up to court
he is now in contempt and there is a warrant out for his arrest, we do not have an address for him but the police are looking for him or his car and once they have him they will keep him in custody until a court date is arranged, the police have told dd to be careful about going out alone, luckily in this lockdown we are not going out much anyway, its generally only for a dog walk and then someone tries to go with her. Lets hope they pick him up soon. Thanks again for all the kind thoughts xx
Dressing change yesterday and my hole is back to a 10mm one which is the size we started off at in November, the consultant was hugely sorry about putting the dry dressing on too quickly but its not his fault, these things happen, so I am back to a wet dressing and to start the whole process again, Nels I promise I am being good and resting when I can xx
I have to collect some sleeping pills for my mum today (dd will drive me) mum has not slept since we told her the news and is crying constantly which is understandable but I persuaded her to phone the Dr who was great and has left a prescription out for her, at least if she can get some sleep she will be able to face things better.
Chicken curry for dinner tonight I think OH will make it as he does make a good one, house needs a quick tidy through as well.
Dumpling I was sorry to hear about Steves dad xx
Marie thinking of you xx
Have good days all xx11 -
Morning all. Raining with vengeance this morning and I've been out to fetch the very wet recycle boxes back in. I took some liver out this morning, OH won't eat it so he can have something else, probably the same as last night, and I'll attempt a slow cooked braised liver and bacon this afternoon. I also took a ham hock out for tomorrow which will be German style and I might make a cake being as the oven will be on.OH hoovered yesterday, I did the washing and drying and made food last night, which was burgers from the butchers, very nice, very juciy, no repeat burping, coleslaw and steamed potatoes. Judging by the motorcycle glove in the lean to, Fatty took the opportunity to bring in a mouse or a rat, which will be the second one in three days. As OH is essentially on nights with his sleep pattern this means he has to deal with it...phew. Today I will get dressed, I promise and go out for a shufty to the veg shop for some supplies. Mostly because there are not enough potatoes left for mash which I believe is essential with liver and bacon. I'm still waiting for my jigsaw to arrive so I can gainfully employ myself.Ruby, hope it went double OK yesterday. AOD, you have a dust-o-meter? Mine is broken I think, I don't notice it until it's turned something black to grey [ computer/x box/top of the fire]. TA, if you can train her, you could do a travelling show to earn pennies
Bella, Hester, hugs. And anyone else who wants them.

Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need, especially nmlc with work, Bella, RR and her dd and Marie.
TA leather gardening gloves and a thick towel is what I used to use with recalcitrant cats.
Raining here so Beano only had a short walk and is now asleep, I've made chilli for tonight and it will sit and dinner all day on top of the stove.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning all.
Oh TA, poor you and poor Sparkle. My last ginger, Oscar, was fine with getting into the carrier, but put him in the car and switch on the engine and you could hear him yelling and swearing all the way to the vet.
Ruby, so as well as being evil, he is a cowardy custard, and incredibly stupid. Surely he must realise that he has put himself into a really bad light with the court now. They dont look kindly on time wasters. Do take care all of you, he sounds completely deranged.
I had my vaccination yesterday. Very quick, I went straight in and it took exactly 17 minutes, and that included the 15 minutes sitting in a chair afterwards. As I was next door to the big Tesco Extra I took the opportunity to stock up on some fresh fruit and veg. I've never seen the car park so empty, I wouldn't have gone in otherwise. I must have picked the right moment because when I came out the car were coming in thick and fast.
I'll defrost some mince today and cook it up. What would we do without mince? I have a litre of milk that needs to be used up, so I'll make a load of cheese sauce, then I'll make a few lasagnes for the freezer.
Stay safe, my friends.I believe that friends are quiet angels

WICKED LADY and HESTER thanks for the cat catching tips .I will have leather gloves and a thick towel at the ready for her next appointment! x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9

TA, I was going to say I used to wear my motorbike jacket, helmet and gloves when doing that duty before but didn't want to scare you
you could always try putting some cat crack [ aka Dreamies] in the box and if she goes in shut it quick...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10 -
Morning all, it's quite mild here, so a nice change from the cold.I feel like I've had several days "on the edge" with anxiety and consequently very little sleep, but thankfully I slept really well last night and even woke up late, never mind I'll go at my own pace today, that of a slug
I will have to sort out the chest freezer today as himself "helped" by just throwing yesterday's shopping in there. Now anything opened/ in use is buried with the new stuff on the top. I have some meat to split still in the fridge and ready to freeze and 2 sliced loaves to go in too ( always handy in case Dad runs out and can't wait for mine to bake !) At least my freezers are almost full now so I'm less jittery and I might be lucky to find something for tea while I'm in there. I wish I'd bought some ready meals for days like this when I can't be bothered to cook.Enough waffling, might stir myself and get dressed, but perhaps another coffee first.RedRuby I'm so sorry this saga is going to go on for DD, again and you have gone backwards with your "hole" healing. You are all, as a family, going through some very tough times. Hugs to everyone of you.Nelski hopefully the GP's will get their share of vaccines very soon and your DM can have hers asap. I'm wondering what Dad will do. I shall suggest if he has to go to the local leisure stadium, that we take him and he can use his scooter as he couldn't stand either. Since March he seems to have lost the strength to walk far and even get his scooter out of his boot.TA I agree with Gers that perhaps the vet could give you something to calm Sparkle, or you !
I must have had the most laid back cats ever ! They were always around my feet, on my lap and very compliant to go in their basket. Sorry I've forgotten some people that I wanted to mention, brain fog again.Take care all, stay safe if you have to go out.nan xx
