Damaged property working from home

I have worked from home for 10 months now, my employer does not contribute nor do I receive £6 a week tak relief due to me not paying tax as I am part time, however my bills have still gone up.
I also have a desk chair brought home from work (special for bad backs etc) and over the months the wheels have damaged our laminate flooring, do I have to claim on my own insurance? Again a bit unfair as not my fault I could work from home.

Didn't you consider buying a cheap rug or off cut of carpet? Self inflicted damage isn't covered by insurance.8

You can claim the tax rebate direct with the HMRC0

Although without doubt some areas of your life are now more expensive - can I just ask how much have you saved by not having to travel to work?2

How exactly would that work when the OP has clearly said they don't pay tax.

Have you told your insurer your home is now your workplace ?0

Do you have accidental damage on your insurance? Perhaps this could cover it?
I imagine (without knowing what yours says) a normal policy would expect you to mitigate any damage by ensuring the chair was on an adequate surface before use. Which your flooring isn't if it has damaged it in such a short space of time.1 -
I’ve heard it all now!6
