Anyway situation is what it is. I won’t use the course again and don’t intend to start the second course at all and I’m just going to write it off as a disappointment.0

There is an element of subjectivity which could encourage such behaviour. Would be better to have a fair policy where everyone who meets the quantifiable elements of the t&c can have money back. I haven’t even opened the second course so no idea if it’s helpful or not.2

@KatrinaWaves Sure as I say I wanted advise on where I stood. Advice has been overwhelming that I’m being unreasonable. I’ve taken that on board and am
writing it off as a loss/disappointment. I’m not pursuing anything from the company. I’ve complained they rebutted - that’s the end of it.
Nothing else to discuss really and certainly a bit much to question my character and how far it will get me in life. I had a genuine question, I’ve taken the advice on board and reflected. I think people forget there is a real person behind the posts sometimes.

@KatrinaWaves I’m more frustrated that t&cs are open to subjectivity like that but I would never have lied. In fact I totally didn’t see it as an issue I had a voucher to use instead of cash and wanted to continue with the course. I thought the company would understand the issue and let me use my voucher instead. As i say they advertise the 14 day money back guarantee quite plainly and give the impression you can change your mind. Obviously I was naive/unreasonable in my thought process but didn’t want to waste money.0

You need to step back and re-think this approach because it makes no sense - for someone in your position. They will refund you IF the course is not for you. You appear to have told them that you like the course and it obviously is for you because you want to get it free through the Pilates course.Yes - deciding whether something is for you or not is subjective (only you can decide), and a third party can't decide it for you - but you've already decided for yourself that it IS for you and told them and us so you can't honestly dispute that you aren't eligible for a refund.Understand?

@Manxman_in_exile thanks for your input and talking to me like a five year old!
As I said numerous times I came for advice and whether I had any legal right to recompense. The answer has been overwhelming no and also the general consensus was that I was unreasonable to think I would be entitled to anything. I’ve taken that on board and drawn a line underneath the whole situation. I’m not pursuing anything. I won’t use the course. The second course paid for separately I haven’t even opened. I’m just chalking it up to experience/disappointment and I’ll look for a new course to support me with my birth.
I am not going to access the course in any means either directly or through Pilates. I’m still in my cooling off period but understand that as I liked the course 10 days ago I can’t retract that now for a refund even though I have no intention/desire to use the resources.
As far as I’m concerned the matter is closed. I thought this would be a supportive place to get advice but people have been quite aggressive. I wasn’t expecting everyone to agree with me as I said I wanted neutral advice but there really isn’t any need to keep attacking me when I have said umpteen times now that I’ve taken the advice on board and drawn a line under the matter.0 -
faykceb84 said:Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice. I recently (2nd Jan) purchased a hypnobirthing course online via credit card (cost £60). The course consists of videos and mp3 files. However, I realised on the 5th Jan that access to the course was actually provided complimentary through a pregnancy Pilates programme that I want to sign up to. So I contacted them to cancel and ask for a refund.faykceb84 said:

I feel you are cutting off your nose to spite your face.
In your OP you paid for the course because you wanted to do it, and you wanted a refund because you still wanted to do it but realised it was free through something else you also wanted to do.
And yet now because they won't refund (and quite rightfully) you're getting all huffy and saying you don't want to do it any more.
Really? How about just accept it cost you money as you didn't do your research, learn from your mistake, and enjoy the course?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
@pinkshoes because the course is about helping you to get into a state of deep relaxation and these audio clips are the ones I will take with me into birth.Yes its a situation of my own making but I don’t really want to listen to the woman’s voice now as it just makes me frustrated that money has been wasted and I’d rather move on from the situation. I can’t imagine many people would want to listen to a trader they had a dispute with while in birth. Even if I am the unreasonable one doesn’t mean I don’t feel annoyed/frustrated thinking about it. I’m hoping I can revisit in time but at the moment that’s not something I want to do.0
