Hi, have just received a replacement Clarity card and the signing strip on the reverse of the card is really small and not big enough for a signature. There was nothing in the paperwork to say that the card has to be signed on receipt. Please might anyone know if the new cards are not meant to be signed. Many thanks

They are meant to be signed, someone could use the card fraudulently if you don't sign it. Not so much in the UK but a lot of foreign countries still do swipe and signature. I assume you're planning to travel with the card if it's a Clarity card.
Squeeze your old John Hancock in the space they've given you as best you can.1 -
If they weren't meant to be signed they wouldn't have a signature strip, although I know that some people never bother signing cards these days. If you want to sign it, just do it as best you can.1

Thank you all for replying, I do think it needs signing and was worried about using it without a signature. Just wanted to see if anyone else had received one because it looks a little odd, the signing strip is only 2.5cm compared to my old card which is about 5cm.0

I think the strip may not be as long as it used to be - no longer almost the full length of the card. This may be to protect the chip as the signature strip does not stretch over that part of the card. Just a guess but perhaps some people were pressing so hard with their ballpoint pen that it was damaging the chip.1

Many thanksSorry to resurrect this thread, but just to confirm that I have had a couple of new cards from LBG over the last few months, and I can 100% guarantee that there was absolutely nothing enclosed with the cards or attached to them that suggested they needed to be signed. I even commented on the fact on another thread at the time because I found it so surprising. However, the card carrier letter received with the replacement Halifax Debit Card I received last week had been re-drafted, and now says the new card needs to be signed.I think it was an oversight on their part which has now been fixed.1
