Lockdown will have to be tightened if we get over the 1,000 a day mark with any regularityallIcouldwishfor said:I would imagine the only scenario under which there will be an extension, is if the lockdown goes further to bring the housing market to a grinding halt as it did during lockdown 1.00 -
I don`t know, what do you think?MobileSaver said:
If sellers end up having to pay SDLT do you think that will lead to lower or higher house prices?Crashy_Time said:I can see sellers having to pay this tax eventually.0 -
An extension just encourages more people to view and try to buy property, which is the opposite of the behaviour that a "lockdown" is trying to encourage? I think it will be re-instated and we are heading into tighter lockdown and full shut down of the housing market for most normal transactions.allIcouldwishfor said:I would imagine the only scenario under which there will be an extension, is if the lockdown goes further to bring the housing market to a grinding halt as it did during lockdown 1.00 -
Have you got round to buying a property yet, Crashy? Or are you still waiting after 12 or 13 years?2

Of course, because anytime is a good time if you're buying a home. Buy to let is a different matter.Crashy_Time said:

What has happened to house prices over the 12-13 years you've been waiting for the crash? How much rent have you paid during that time? How much older are you going to be before you could living mortgage/rent free for the rest of your life?4 -

Will they be forced into a U-Turn, or are the global factors at play just too big now? Expect some mortgage rate hikes soon IMO.0 -

Or are you still waiting after 12 or 13 years?Yes, now is a great time to buy for anyone looking for somewhere more suitable to live in and make their home.Especially if the alternative is to pay someone else's mortgage for the next 12 or 13 years so you can instead live in a bedsit in an undesirable part of town. For most people that would be a bit of a no-brainer!Every generation blames the one before...
