I'm sure there are suitably qualified tradespeople/professionals out there who will bend over backwards to give you an expert opinion rather than any potentially ill-informed advice given in such forums as this .   Just google 'damp survey' or 'damp engineer'  and you will find plenty of folk out there but it could cost you some ££££ for such a report.

I'm sure there are some experts posting here (that may be qualified) who can at least inform us all of the best people to talk to - ie. I would guess there is some sort of professional body for these people, hence you could find those who are registered with them. I haven't done a search (yet!).
