@nosferatu1001 thank you I will work on that today, I only have emails and a letter and a copy of the phone conversation but not sure how that can be submitted? Will I need this even if they consent?

I would not end a business like letter/e-mail with "regards", it should be yours faithfully (if addressed dear sir/madam) or yours sincerely (if addressed to a named person).
ETA - just read on and noticed that you've already sent it.  No matter, still makes good reading.

You provide transcripts, for example. 
Yes, because you need to show why you didnt respond to the claim
I dont know why people think that a consented set aside means that CPR13.2 and CPR13.3 can be ignored. You know you need to satisfy those reasons, else the court will see this as credit washing, whcih they hate.

Its also prudent to do so; you have no idea if they will consent. If they dont, you have to go through all teh steps anyway.

If the OP does have to apply to the court without consent then VCS would look churlish when the application for set aside is heard.

A judge may not be very impressed that they had not given their permission especially with all the other stuff going on in the courts at the moment that are higher priority.
