PC camera does not work

Options
My PC is still under warranty and the camera does not work.
They want me to send it to be fixed.  However I need it for my daughter's home schooling.
Can I insist they refund me as that way I can get a working PC much quicker?

  • They only change it within 14 days of purchase, after that as part of the guarantee they repair it for free for you, but sadly they need it to fix it.
It sounds like a driver issue, which is an easy fix anyway. Try a windows update first.

Worth looking in Device manager or finding driver for camera  .
What sort of PC has a camera ?? or is this a stand alone not built in camera  , or is the PC in fact a laptop .
Post model for help with drivers .

So you want to keep the PC and receive a refund? Of course you can not insist on that, that would be ridiculous.

No I want to send the PC back get the money and buy a new PC the same day as opposed to waiting for them to fix it!

Remove the privacy cover from the lens.
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

Thank you both.  I found that system restore fixed it.  However every update destroys as did installing word.

However if you think it can be fixed it would be great.  It is a Lenovo LAPTOP-R8GBD71V

Sorry I should have said that it is a laptop.
The camera is Realtek and driver version 10.0.19041.20146.  It does have the latest drivers installed

Something is majorly wrong if just installing Word breaks access to the camera...

Update problem is not a fault of the PC , system restore has proved that .
  • After restoring export your drivers to a new location and then if it stops again update it from the backup https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/68426-backup-restore-device-drivers-windows-10-a.html

Are you sure because it is only when I restore a previous version that it works
