BT contract

Hi,
We took out a BT contract at our old property in February 2020, we have now moved and I used the moving home facility with BT to transfer over. We are unable to get any more than 3mbs at the new property and Ive spoken with BT and they say thats the highest available speed in our area. We both work from home so this just isnt enough, we are bound in contract until 2022 but I can't really wait that long. Early exit fee is over £300.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks in advance.

If you dont have Virgin available then that's as fast as you'll get from anyone else because thats the best you'll get. The only alternative is possibly 4G if you can get a decent signal.
Unfortunately there's not much else you can do, you've taken out a contract and perhaps you should have checked what speeds were available before you moved or even decided to move especially if you'd taken out a 2 year contract.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
As above. Check Virgin availability, investigate 4G, or put up with it.Sorry.0

I don’t know about your contract but maybe you could look up your local cabinet and see if there will be any upgrades coming for fibre? Mine got upgraded in 2018 and that was a happy day but half my neighbours missed out because all the slots got taken! It took them another 18 months to expand and create enough space for everyone. Put your post code in here: https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm0

you can only use them if its available where you live, same with Virgin or even 4G. Satellite systems are also available and could be an option but they are expensive.J_B said:

However satellite could be an option if nothing else is available. Up until two years ago the best we could get was 1.9mbit/s but the bloke up a road who runs his own business had satellite broadbandNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Thank you for this
we didn’t know we would move so soon which is frustrating otherwise I wouldn’t have taken out a two year contract.Virgin offer fibre here, I’ll have a look into it thanks,0 -
Op #Did you not get a minimum speed notice in your resign up email .Are you using Ethernet connections for maximum speed .Using wifi turn router set channels and try 5ghz to maximise signal .0

We were in the same boat, only our neighbour has a fibre 'leased line' ... that's why we have airband
