Travel between multi destinations

I booked a multi destination holiday last January to the USA, with internal flights booked by the travel agent. This was originally scheduled for October 2020, but I have already delayed it to April 2021.
I have paid a deposit,  which I understand from speaking to the travel agent has been used to secure non-refundable tickets on the internal flights.
As travel insurance only covers Covid-19 if either of us contract the virus, I cannot see how these flights can still be covered if we are well, but unable to fly into the USA. 
Do I have any come back to the travel agent, as they have chosen to book non-refundable tickets?
My choice seems to be to either put back the whole trip to a time when the virus is under control in the USA and UK, or lose my deposit.

    wait. It may be that one or more flights are cancelled or rescheduled, which should entitle you to a refund,

    Even if you have booked non-refundable flights, many airlines are offering waivers such as free date change or travel credit if you don't wish to travel.  Go to the individual airline's websites and see what their Covid policies are.

    Is it a flight-only booking or a package?  If the latter, that would give you more cancellation and refund rights under the Package Travel Regulations 2018....

    If it's a package through a provider targeting the UK, it's fully covered by UK law. If it's a package through a provider targeting the EU (which will be relevant due to when you booked), it will be covered under EU law, which currently aligns with UK law. You should have either an ATOL, or a national equivalent in this case.

    Many of the US carriers are adopting a waiver policy, so there's no harm in asking what will apply if you are forced to postpone. You may have to pay an admin fee to the agent, and may in addition have to pay an admin fee to the airline, but may be able to find savings there somewhere.

    If it's in the form of a voucher, ask the agent nicely to transfer it into your name 'to save the hassle of using their valuable time for the re-booking', which also conveniently saved you the valuable cash in the form of admin fees. They may not agree to this and you have no right to it, but there is no harm in asking.
