Yes the electricity appears fine however the gas reading on the IHD is 168kwh for a roughly 72 hour period....seems insaneRobin9 said:32.55 kWh in 3 days is very average (for this time of year) and costs about £5
Is thee no display on the gas whatsoever - it may need waking up - is there a black button or button A ? Does the meter have a small key pad - press button 90 -
168Kwh at 3p is £5.00 - its winter !Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill2

(5 bed detached).We pay 2.17p/kWh.

Hi,forget the IHD, go to the actual meters and take meter readings, set up a wee spreadsheet and do your own calculations.Take readings at least once a month, keep your eye on usage and cost, also send monthly readings to supplier.2

Check the reading in M3 rather than the IHD potentially dodgy conversion to kWh (then do a dodgy conversion yourself!) but dodgy or otherwise, around 56 kWh at this time of year is pretty good to be fair. We’re well above that currently. Far from insane as you will come to realise.DanM1701 said:Yes the electricity appears fine however the gas reading on the IHD is 168kwh for a roughly 72 hour period....seems insane0 -
What's insane is paying 18.21p per kWh of electricity and a daily charge of 23.64p, that's just a rip-off. It's time to switch !Stop thinking in ££, think kWh. Rely on the meters on the wall, not the portable shiny toy.3

It is called gas central heating. We are in a cold snap. I live in a well insulated modern new build and i used 64.52 kwhs yesterday; 72.62kwhs the day before and 70.63kwhs the day before that at less than 3p/kWh. When you turn, say, a 24kW gas boiler on first thing in the morning it will use a lot of gas until the house reaches whatever temperature you have set. So far today, my boiler has consumed 40.18kWhs of gas: total cost so of £1.27. The £2.89 figure shown on your IHD is for both gas and electricity.DanM1701 said:Gas reading on the IHD for just under 72hr period is a whopping 168kWh0 -
Average gas consumption is 12,000kWh PA, of which 13.8% is used in January. 72 hours is a tenth of the month, so:
12000*0.138*0.1 = 165.6 kWh, which is within 1.5% of the consumption you're metering.
and average electricity consumption is 3,100kWh PA, of which 10.6% is used in January:
3,100*0.106*0.1 = 32.86 kWh, within 1% of your consumption.
However, your electricity tariff is 22% more expensive than mine.0 -
I'm using between 70 - 100 kWh of gas a day, depending on how cold it is outside, and my heating is on from 7:45 to 23:30 every day. 3 bed semi with 8 radiators.0
