Plusnet renewal/price match

I realised today that I hadn't added my plusnet email to Outlook, and hadn't been receiving emails regarding my account.. and when I sorted that out, noticed my 12-month deal had expired, and I was now on their "out of contract" rate, which - like SVR on energy bills, is expensive! I checked the "offers and upgrades" in 'my account', and it didn't offer 'standard broadband', only 2 fibre deals, so I checked the MSE guide for alternatives, then called Plusnet to check the status and see what options they would offer.
They offered me "line saver" at £213 (eq, £17.76), plus broadband at £2.24/m - but when I pointed out the Post Office deal at £17/m, they agreed to match it! :) - and I don't have to pay up-front for the line rental!

Yeah you might want to watch your bills on the website, as the billing system has a habit of forgetting about agreed deals, especially if they've been applied by phone.

Just wanted to echo the advice. Plusnet billing is a bit 'random' - not always even in their favour.
I have hust been told my deal is about to expire even though I think (and have an email confirmation which I screen shot) confirming that I took an 18 month deal so have 6 months left.
I'm afraid dealing with Plusnet and their competitors is more like doing a deal in a Middle East souk. Until you are actually on the phone to the disconnection team and there is a man with a pair of pliers outside the house waiting to cut you off you probably won't get the best price.
  • Well that was easy this time. Had an email saying my contract was ending in March. Rang them after logging in and seeing I'd been offered a renewal deal on my account £16 month cheaper than the email.  Spoke to the advisor who gave me a better deal and a £75 cashback card that basically keeps me at the same £22 per month for BB and line rental for the next 2 years.  Last time it was like pulling teeth.
