Roal mail, parcel or recorded delivery

I got fed up at the end.
do royal mail actually ring you when they are at the door or they just drop their little red paper to tell you they were there and you were out?
at least four times now, I was at home, waiting delivery, and, oh my GOD, at the end of the day i am about to go out and see the little paper you were out...
grrr, I wasnt, I was there!!! am I deaf? may be i need to go to the doctor..

pouf, over

same thing has happened to me except i got a lttle slip saying no one was in come to the post office down town to pick it up, but there was 3 of in the house at the time all day! i think royal mail just cant be bothered nowadays, and there service is defently getting worse, our post used to turn up at a regular tiem in the morning, now it just turns up when ever may it be 11am or 4pm, or in some cases not at all but that a differnt story.

A recent delivery chap told me that he had knocked quietly (I only just heard him) because of complaints about waking shift workers.

It can't really be idleness on their parts can it? After all, it's probably more work to fill out one of those slips than it is to hand you the parcel.

I had occasion recently to spot the card, and chased after the postman and asked for an explanation.

He said that if there is a parcel already back at the office, then a card is automatically put through as the second parcel would be held at the office also.

Abit poor service on his part, but I did understand his point of view.

With regards to the knocking, my postman said that he knocks, starts to write the card out, knocks again, completes card and posts it.

I am in real moan mood today. And yes this happened to us just last week. A courier delivered our parcel to my neighbour on the next floor and she told him we're downstairs in my ground floor flat. You know what he did, totally ignored her and wrote that undeliverable note and stoved it through her door and left! Needless to say I had waited whole day at home for the package. Next day same thing, neighbour got a note. What kind of people are these courier agencies employing, can't they read? And the courier company are taking no responsibility. Royal Mail Signed For is just as bad, they just leave it on your doorstep without ringing the bell, so you just stumble over it on your way out (if it hasn't been stolen by then).

Not sure how true it is but I was told that if the depot is short staffed they don't even send out the parcels, just the card thru the door....quicker for the replacement postie to do someone else's rounds if they are covering..
