I know, I feel for those people that have to go to such extreme measures to protects themselves and their families from the hell that is... France...MalMonroe said:
What a terrible comment. As if people attempting to cross the English Channel in a dinghy (not dingie) are doing it for fun. They do it because they are desperateMiserlyMartin said:
It's ok, if you come over in a dingie from France you have no papers so get can't get a test but don't need a test via that sort of entry. PCR tests are free in France anyway, they are not making money out of it like we are.brettcta said:Better late than never but yes, it should’ve been in place early doors. How many countries have they come through to get here?MalMonroe said:

They do it because they are desperate and, as we know, some of them, children included, die in the most awful circumstances on the way. It's a very sad day when British people resent helping other human beings in trouble. In fact, your comment makes me feel ashamed to be British.MiserlyMartin said:

Can we keep the discussion on topic please.
We are discussing the requirement for a negative test before entering the UK.
Any discussion on refugee arrivals would be on the ‘money saving arms’ sub board, which is closed at the moment due to MSE not having the resources to manage it. If this thread continually strays off topic it will have to be closed.

Just looking at the requirements and it seems the test result must be in english, french or spanish.
What about people coming from many, many other countries where those languages aren't spoken. Its quite likely the providers there may not issue a certificate in anything other than their own language. I mean could you imagine Bupa issuing a certificate in say Sweedish ?0 -
There cannot be many countries where English is not spoken to some degree.
Would people from these countries be travelling to UK for work or essential reasons/0 -
I've had to travel for business since the new rules came in, I was offered a test in 3 languages. One of those was English. I will also note that the cost was £25-ish at a private lab (presumably one that needs to make a profit), with results back on the same day, which leaves me to wonder where the £100+ difference in the UK is going.michael1234 said:Just looking at the requirements and it seems the test result must be in english, french or spanish.

You're forgetting the many people in the UK that speak a second language. Feasibly yes, more so than certain other countries, as these would typically be countries where exports to the UK would be most beneficial.sheramber said:There cannot be many countries where English is not spoken to some degree.

Totally different cost base. The question perhaps should be how do they do it for £25?CKhalvashi said:

There are Brits all over the world. We export products and services all over the world and they need supporting.sheramber said:There cannot be many countries where English is not spoken to some degree.

I don't think we can assume tests are available in all those countries in English.
And to Thrugelmir, the cheaper cost will almost certainly be down to the cost of the people being substantially less in the country referred to than here.0
