I would personally tell him that his repeated calls and texts are amounting to harassment and that all further communications should now be in writing.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.

Which probably we will, we're just surprised how uninformed he is.

You have to make him realise that illegal eviction is a criminal offence. He must serve you the correct notice in the correct manner and then apply to the courts for possession i.e. at the moment a 12 month process, 6 months notice then 6 or so months for it to go to court. Just tell him any more threats and you call the Police and if it continues ring them and tell them he is attempting to illegally evict you. Might take a few calls to them but they should contact him and educate him and if he doesn't back off pay him a visit. Stop !!!!!! footing around and star asserting your rights......

Thank you @rik111, I will. We were trying to make it as easy as it can be for all parties by getting a house quickly and get the hell out of here but his sale, at least this is what he says, is going quicker than we thought, and now he is being unreasonable with his contacts with us. We're already very stressed about buying a house and this adds more stress on top.
Is it possible that the other side (his buyer) is pushing for a date of our leave?

Have you changed the lock cylinders? Might be a great time, to do so just to prevent anybody from evicting you illegally when you're out.

Illegal eviction is not a police matter unless there is violence involved. It is your local council that enforce the law against harassment & illegal eviction. You may wish to contact them and make them aware of the situation. They may contact the landlord on your behalf to put him right on the situation.

Thank you both, it's ok for now, but we saw the new owners walking around, pointing at the garage and and top of the garage, possibly talking about an extension, while they see us inside sitting in the living room. Kinda creepy, but I guess we're gonna have to live with it until we move.

You may want to have a word with them about the speed with which you can move and your LLs incompetence in this area . If I were the buyer I would be pretty hacked off to discover a property described as available now is tenanted and not vacant

Thank you for that Mahsroh. Yes, it is just a text, no letter, nothing.

He also refuses to believe it's 6 months, we had to send him the news that it is. He never had renters before so I think that's why he really doesn't know how to deal with this.
I would stop helping him, the more mistakes, the longer you have.
He is literally pushing it because he keeps calling and texting. I can understand his haste but it's getting annoying now.
    Block their number.

I will if I see them walking around the house again. We're still expecting that eviction letter that should have been handed to us before the house was put on sale :)
