Yep same here. It appears to be known issue that ppl are being sent letters even if they aren't getting a price increase (I only renewed my contract in November).
I'm not sure that's correct. I just called them about it (renewed contract in October) and was told it will increase in March. Have taken the £3.50 discount for six months mentioned above while I think about it and check comparisons.
Aiden told me the price increase does not apply to me (renewed Nov 26)  until my contract ends. He said the email is sent to everyone, even the ones not affected.

You're right, I'm wrong. Thanks for the prompt to get it clarified  - just called them again (also spoken to an Aiden). He said letters have to be sent to all customers for legal reasons, but hike doesn't apply to all and no change for me until existing contract ends April 2022. £3.50 discount for 6 months will still apply, apparently.

  • Thanks for this, I got £4.00 for 6 months instead of £3.50, nice easy £24 saving on top of the £15 per month saving I get anyway for writing a snotty letter about a year ago.
  • I also accepted this option as my contract runs out soon anyway. Took a while to get through as their line was constantly engaged. Has anyone actually received an e-mail confirmation of this after accepting? I've pressed this option before on the automated phone service in recent years and it hasn't worked and customer service has then denied all knowledge of offering me the discount in the first place.
    It's on my contract online.

Thanks, have received my service change agreement receipt now. Does yours say minimum remaining period is 12 months? Just worried now that we have all entered into a new contract.
  • Called them up, apparently the whole 12 months thing on the service change receipt is wrong and there is no new contract. Got them to add a note of that effect to my account.

    mine says 18 months remaining.
  • Did those who receive the automated discount find out whether it affected your existing minimum contract period ?
  • HELP: Virgin Media, unable to get through and cancel contact. Tried 150 and the 1111 number on hold for ages, have been cut off when picked up or get passed through to another team who then cut me off, urgent help is needed. They know the problems and with 30 day notice they are just playing the system and we are suffering.

I called them up to confirm that it doesn't affect your existing contract period and that nothing else has changed apart from the added discount. They told me just to ignore the e-mail confirmation they sent and added a note to that effect on my account. I have seen someone else on this forum on the virgin haggle thread have the same thing confirmed to them as well.
  • Thanks - Got the offer on my sisters Virgin account, but not on my own :(
