windows 10 update issues

Options
I have had issues installing new updates on  windows 10 since November.
There was an initial message saying "turn off firewall to install" which I ignored as I have had this laptop since Jan 2020 and had numerous updates that installed without asking to turn off Firewall. i have tried to reboot  countless times and got nowhere. Can anyone suggest how to fix this? I live in Wales and we have been in Lockdown quite some time so my usual laptop shop isn't open,.
Thank you

" i have tried to reboot  countless times and got nowhere"

Could you give a detailed description of what happens when you try and boot the laptop, including any error messages and what happens.

Also what is the make and model of the laptop.

Regarding firewalls, what anti-virus package are you using?
Type winver in search to find out what version you have now (out of interest).  **backup important stuff before doing this.**
Try manually udating to latest version.
    1.  click update now at https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
    2.  I suspect that 1. will fail like before, so try a reinstall to latest version following instructions at the same link
Download tool now -> and read from Using the tool to upgrade this PC to Windows 10 (click to show more or less information)

That doesn't contain its own firewall (I think) so doesn't explain... anything.  If you type winver in your Windows search box (and enter) what does it say about your laptop being activated?  (the error code may indicate a license issue).

this is I think a licensing issue ,There is a product key but  most of the number is missing. I bought this lap top second hand a year ago from a store .The message that came up said there is not a  valid product key and gave the error code oxc004f01f.  Can I fix this ?

The OP says they have tried to boot the laptop but are unable to do that - to me this means that they cannot get to the desktop and cannot enter Winver or anything else

I've asked OP to tell me what happens when they boot the machine but so far there is no reply - I am therefore unable to help until I get this information

sorry for the late reply the model number is PSK1WE-10MOO9EN, Toshiba make.
the error code that keeps coming up is OX004F012 ,The message seems to be around the licensing of Windows .

Thanks Margi but you still haven't answer my question - what happens when you try and boot? You say you cannot boot so what happens? Yes you mention an error code - is that what happens - you press power on and 5 seconds later this code is on the screen? Or does more happen? Do you see the desktop, in which case you can boot?  You need to be specific.
