Thanks all,
I have since arranged a transfer of funds so no bank charges have been applied, and i am fluid.
My option is clear, to wait 2 weeks and then approach the bank.0 -
Response received from Amazon, happy to get resolution within 7 days.

That looks like a fair and reasonable offer. I'm glad things seem to be working out for you.

What a load of drama when a resolution was done quickly.1

Amazon got back to me today, they cannot implement a fix, so i can keep the item as i paid for it, or return for a full refund.0

Now it’s up to you to decide. Only you can make that decision.2

But thankful i'm in a position to keep it, and can consider the matter closed.2 -
I have had pretty much exactly the same problem, which I created a thread for a couple of days ago (not sure why I didn’t find this when I initially searched): https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6232132/amazon-monthly-payments-problem-query#latest
I suppose I am in a slightly better situation than you experienced OP, as in my email they said they couldn’t do anything else and already offered the £20 voucher. As I said in my post, I couldn’t return the item as it had been opened and in use for over a week by the time they emailed me, and I hadn’t checked my online account in between ordering and getting this email.Pretty disappointed - yes, I understand that mistakes happen but it’s still frustrating and not great. You can order some pretty pricey things on the monthly payments. I’m glad it wasn’t a £2k laptop else some of my direct debits would have bounced!0 -

The email i posted above was from the exec team from a complaint i raised. I accepted the £30 for the inconvenience and being told there was a fix on the way.
I then get the email you received with the £20 credit.
I then went back to the exec office asking where this fix was that i was promised, as now told there wasn't one.
They replied say they couldn't apply a fix, and credited my account a further £20.
I've considered my case closed, as I've had £70 credit which whilst the transaction wasn't completed as i had authorised i'm happy they've compensated me for this.
