Mattress Partial Refund

Hello123_2

I purchased a mattress in Feb 2019. It developed faults in Aug 2020. An inspection was finally carried out & reported faulty.
The company are now offering me a refund minus 20%? So essentially an 80% refund. On the basis that I am in Year 2 of a 5 year warranty.
I didn’t have any paperwork with the mattress to advise this, just a receipt and care leaflets. But it is on their website (just checked).
Before I accept, I just want to make sure this is right? Thanks

A deduction is permitted which should be usage vs lifespan. I don't think the warranty period bares any relationship to expected lifespan.
If it was a £200 mattress then I'd take the 80%, if it was £2000 I'd be pushing for a 90% refund. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
I just presumed as it’s faulty and hasn’t lasted the 5 year warranty, it would be a replacement or full refund? It was about £700...0

That's £140 deduction for 18 months based on when you reported the fault, if it was me I'd decline and counter offer with £600 (but I would have the inclination to argue the toss with them rather than accept their offer for an easy life). In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
What’s the point in the 5 year warranty? I thought it was to cover you should the mattress not last 5 years?0

I paid on cc if that has any relevance?0

It doesnt mean you get a free use of a mattress.0 -
My mattress warranty is less xx% year one less xxx% year two less xxxx% year four and so on .(I just presumed as it’s faulty and hasn’t lasted the 5 year warranty, it would be a replacement or full refund )That would depend upon what the warranty actually said .Consumer Rights is not warranty but it also allows for a usage deduction .

For the past 6 months, a let really depends on what exactly the fault is and how it impairs the use of the mattress.0 -
Ok thank everyone for clarifying. It’s taken 6 months for them to send an inspector (over 30 emails & phone calls). It’s not been used since August. But nevertheless im still on year 2 of the warranty0
