Just a quick question...all your cakes etc are lovely and i have been totally inspired by you all......I do some voluntary work with a girls only youth centre which is based in a church hall...the girls wanna help raise funds for the new church hall as funding was declined and the church now has to find the money its self...... if we made things like this for the fates coming up....how much would you normally sell them for? I am terrible at puttin prices on things

I suppose it depends on what you have paid
for everything I mean you need to cover
your costs.The cake cases inc p&p from
ebay work out about 8p each.the smaller
cake cases take one flannel or cotton socks
but the larger cases two flannels or a pair of
fluffy socks


because you can make these with with
other things besides flannels
What you could do is ask for donations of
flannels, socks, woollen gloves ect.
Ribbons (for decoration)wool(you could
make small pom poms to use as decorations
for the top of the cakes)or if its easter use
those fluffy chicks from the pound shops
See what comes in so
many people have things at home they
may not have used or socks that dont
fit anyone.

If the bulk of what you are using
has come by way of donations
then you will be able to keep the
selling price down and make it affordable
for everyone.Usualy at church fetes
its a real mix of people attending they
want to buy affordable items especially if they
have kids in tow or its kids spending their
pocket money.If this were me in these
circumstances I would probably charge
about 65p / 70p each.As I reckon there is a good
50p+ profit margin in each one,then if you have any
left near the end of the day you can afford to
drop your price to clear out any remaining on
the day to 40p/50p each and still be making
a profit.

these look especially good if you have lots of them
displayed.Have a look on the front page and see if
there are any decorations you could easily copy.
see if you can borrow a few cake stands for
display or work out a tiered display for them

the old adage of piling high and selling cheap
or in your case reasonably is a good one
these are great fun to make as there is no
complicated sewing or cutting and if you
get everyone making these its more fun to
see your efforts sell out than forlornley sat
there unsold on the stall at the end of the day.

thanks rose kitten thats great info...i will try and keep the costs down and like you say if all the girls are sitting making them it will be great fun and no doubt the competitive edge will come out.

Hi I posted this info on another thread but thought here may help too was in wilkinsons today and they had packs of flannels 6 for £1 when i got to check out they were only 50p mixed colour packs great for the cakes
