A new screen repair should only take 5-10min and can be done while you wait
Assuming the required parts are in stock. There is an abundance of supply chain issues right now, so what the current repairer is saying could be feasible.
A dream is not reality, but who's to say which is which?
Some screens (newer Apple ones) are over £400, but equivalents are $200+ (knock offs, and repaired screens). Most usually come from china, and if it is a new device, the cheap screen could be in short supply. Even they do not manage to get their hands on certain models.
I am sure when the repair shop put the screen on and noticed a defect he also winged too. No one who repairs electronics want faulty screens or parts, or wants to do the same job twice over.
I bought a microscope from spain, beginning of december, had a delivery time of 10 days, and it is still not here. It is in the country before christmas and the delivery company has cancelled twice.
