Thanks again!Mum rang again and give permission for them to speak to me also.I’ve brought up the bath lift issue and the thoughts and worries behind it, they are insistent that this is all they are offering, no shower. Mum has decided to turn this down and has said she’ll just pay herself. As for the telecare and care support, it’s confusing, because they keep mentioning it, but they are not clear whether this is a recommendation or just a point in the direction of something else she can consider. My thoughts are it’s just signposting to other services because they keep mentioning my mum having to fund it.I have asked for a written copy of the assessment and recommendations and they got a bit weirded out about it saying they were not sure if they could but I’ve said we are entitled to a copy. Not sure if mum will try and challenge anything, she says she doesn’t see the point, as if they are insistent on the bath lift they have no reason to change their mind. Thanks again.0

Just a further update. Mum spoke with an advocate from the local sight loss charity. The local authority then rang to ask permission for the advocate to speak on her behalf.Later this afternoon the occupational therapy manager rang, she’s fine that she disputes the bath lift and understand a five minute conversation isn’t a fair assessment, so has agreed to add her to the waiting list for a home assessment.0

Well done for hanging on in there. It really shouldn’t be this hard.
when she gets a copy of her needs assessment it will say under each domain whether it is an eligible need or not. Even if it’s something mum doesn’t want help with, it should still be recorded. If it’s an eligible need then there needs to be a discussion about how it will be met, then comes the financial assessment.Right now they do seem to be doing their very best to fudge the issue. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -
It might also be worth speaking to the housing association.
I know mine are happy to carry out alterations and adaptations that are necessary to keep a tenant safe in their hom
I am blind and have a guide dog and my housing association came and put a fence around the front of the building for me me as well as erecting a toileting pen for the dog in the garden.
Dial so put extra cupboards in my kitchen so that I could store things I needed for the dog0 -
Thanks.Yeah, I did a lot of reading, I also contacted the RNIB that sent me their pack on care needs assessments, and it made me more determined to get the help she needs, so it was all worth doing.I never thought about speaking with the housing association, we can do that on Monday!0
