How do I sign up to Sky broadband?

I went to www.uswitch.com, put in my address, selected the 145mb option with Sky, and then it's asking me to sign in and says "Sorry to keep you waiting", and "We lost you for a moment there. Please login to your account to continue."
I've tried various ways to get onto the site to purchase broadband only, but it seems to want to link my Sky account ID. I don't have Sky so does that mean I can't get Sky broadband?
According to this link you can get broadband only: https://www.skyoffersnewcustomers.co.uk/broadband/without-sky-tv/

What's so special about uSwitch? can't you just go to sky.com and sign up there?

Have you tried direct - Sky Broadband - Best superfast broadband & phone deals | Sky.com0

It didn't matter how I did it. There seems no option to purchase. I did create an account. If this is an IQ test, I seem to have failed!

It seems they do not allow any sign-ups unless you have Sky TV. You can't phone them, you can't switch via uswitch, you can't get to their online shop... nothing. It would be nice if they made this clear.

Well I don't know what you're doing but I've just done a dummy run and got as far as enter my details and there was no mention of having to already be a Sky member. Yes they wave TV at you but I managed to get into Check out without a need to actively have it.

Neil, thanks for checking that, but did you actually create an account? I wonder if you just haven't gone far enough.
- I went to: https://www.sky.com/tvandbroadband
- I signed in (created an account before).
- Deals -> tv and broadband
- Got "manage your package" or "Got Sky? Come on in"
- Since I haven't got sky, I went "manage your package"
- Got a page "Please link your Sky iD to your Sky account to access Shop"
- There is a 'not now' option, but it keeps displaying the above page.
- The "Got Sky? Come on in" option does much the same thing.

I’d just ring them, that’s how I signed up (broadband and phone, no TV)

I tried by phone, and their system is archaic to say the least. They asked for date of birth, mother's maiden name, an account password with no complexity requirements (at all), it felt like being back in the 90s. I tried to give a card number and you have to do it using the phone pad. It failed for some reason, so I said I'd call back. But I tried again on the website, and not only was it working but it was a cheaper setup fee than by phone, so it's all sorted now. I like their early termination refund deal: https://www.sky.com/shop/offers/broadbandswitchers/v1/.
