Samsung cashback -- do they really send you anything or is it BS?

I purchased a Samsung handset last month via EE and there was a cashback offer advertised.  i put in the claim with Samsung, immediately (within 1 second) had an email back from them saying my claim has been validated (seemed a bit odd they validated it in instantly).  We're now coming to the end of the time period they claimed they would pay the money into my bank account (30 days) and I've not heard a thing.
I emailed Samsung Promotions providing them with my name and claim number and they sent a reply back that said:  "Please send me your claim number so I can look into this for you."

A quick Google search showed me that lots of people seem to be claiming Samsung never pay out these cashback offers.  Trustpilot reviews were especially damning.

Have you successfully received cashback from Samsung, or am I just wasting my time chasing it?
