Protection for bike from road salt
Recently started using a motorcycle for my journey to work where i work nightshift 10pm-6am.
Ive been told that the grit the council spreads on the roads are really bad for my bike.
Any advice on what i can do too stop it damaging my bike, like sprays etc???
Thanx

I would be washing the bike every night when you get home & spraying it with GT85 or WD40 being careful to avoid the brake discs. They sell WD40 in 5 litre containers with a refillable sprayer.
Motorcycles do not like the bad weather & can look very tatty in a short time.0 -
Wash it the instant you get home.Never never never put it away with salty muck on it.If it says Harley Davidson, Ducatti or Moto Guzzi on the side, don't even think about getting it wet. (I know this from bitter experience- and I mean wet at all, not salty wet) If it says Honda, or BMW you might get away with lots of ACF50, regular washing and re-application. Suzuki and Kawasaki are a sort of half-way house.(My latest 'guzzi is currently sealed inside The World's Most Expensive Polythene Bag with a mound of silica gel until April)Best is to keep some old clunker for the Winter.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

As others have said ACF50 on all the bare metal (excluding exhaust and discs) it will stay on even after washing.0

If using a pressure washer be careful around the wheel bearings
We had a lad at work used to use the pressure washer and he got through a set of front wheel bearings in a matter of months

I commuted a 120 mile round trip for several years on a bike all year round. I used a series of cheap, dull, older hacks. The sprays work a bit but unless you're prepared to wash the bike every day, think about getting an old one you don't care about. A blob of grease on fasteners helps too.0

Another vote here for ACF 50 - lots of videos on YouTube about applying it; you can pretty much apply it to anything (except brake discs) including plastics - I don't have a spray gun so 'paint' it on with a brush. If you're unwilling to spend time in the cold applying it there are detailers who'll apply it for you.
If the roads are salty though I'd still be washing the bike after every trip out.0 -
