I've just opened one too. I've already got a couple of Santander accounts so I wasn't sure whether it would let me, but it has.

£20 is already there pending in my Topcashback account. I'll just spend little and often on it until I've achieved my 30 transactions.

I succumbed. Done through Topcashback too.

I'm on a Topcashback roll. Used it recently for house insurance, car insurance, energy switching, holiday booking and bagged £200 on top of the ISA incentives I mentioned previously.

Now to buy 30 single carrots in Tesco. Roughly 4p for a small one!

I've just banked over £100 through Topcashback too recently through house insurance, car insurance, Tripadvisor booking and Curry's.

I exchange mine for Amazon vouchers and buy Kindle books with them. I haven't bought a book for years!

You can share your kindle purchases with a nominated other person so my mum can read anything I buy too.

I've read 58 books so far this year so it's an expensive hobby to be paying for books every week.

Wish I had time to do some of this stuff...think I'll have to wait until I've retired and then it can be a part-time job!! :)

I've just done the same: already have a Santander account and applied last night.  The account is already showing up on my online banking page, and the £20 cashback showing as pending on Topcashback.

Honestly it doesn't take long at all.

Opening a new account takes 5 -10 minutes. Clicking through to websites you already order off from Topcashback adds seconds.

The effective hourly rate is in the hundreds if not thousands of pounds.

Posting on here takes me far longer each month!

thank you for that: mine was not yet showing, and I'd had an email saying that there was a discrepancy between our existing accounts and this new one, so I needed to update my details, which I could easily do by logging in.

But this was tricky, because I was fairly sure that the the problem was that the address the computer automatically picked up from our postcode for the new account was different to the address showing on our existing accounts. And I want to keep using that one, which is more complete (house name, number and suburb) than the 'new' one.

Anyway, I'd shelved the problem thinking that it was too early to expect the new account to show, but your post made me phone them, and I'm glad I did: not too long a wait and a really helpful person on the other end who worked her way through all the security and got us sorted. So early next week I should be able to see the new account (and can put some money in it), and apparently the debit cards are on their way.

So that just leaves sorting out the Halifax: I've realised there are some DDs I'll have to shift manually but hey ho, how hard can it be!

Just thinking, and I know there are place I can find this out, but someone might 'just know', can I use the account switching service to switch my Halifax to an Existing Account in a fairly straightforward manner? ie I wouldn't have to track down where the DDs are going and manually set up one-off payments in a different account.

That's the best way to move key transactions across and close down an old account. Even when there isn't a new account bonus involved it can be worth doing. Switching accounts in isn't just for new accounts, many existing accounts will allow you to switch another account in at any point.
