Hi LL_USS I have just posted my initial plan here:LL_USS said:
@Twigwidge I would love to follow your story to see how you manage it, when you open a new thread. I still have a long way to go but plan to do the same/ similar: taking out TFLS just from the DC pot without commuting any part of the DB, calculating the shortfall till SPA, wondering what's the best way to use the TFLS. Good luck with your planning.Twigwidge said:Thanks Organgrinder thats is a very handy bit of information and any tax benefit is worth it

Some posters on this forum are a bit 'scared' of the pensions forum, due to the big numbers often mentioned, although many questions are from people with small/no pensions. Like all forums you often get an occasional oddball answer, although most are informative.Twigwidge said:

Some of the experts can be a little bit abrupt, but at the end of the day they are giving free advice, so you can not complain too much.5 -
Today my workplace announced they are looking at redundancies.
If it happens it happens!4 -
It happened to me, having done my sums I put my name forward as a volunteer, the useful lump sum of tax-free redundancy money was enough to retire earlier than I plannedOrgangrinder said:Today my workplace announced they are looking at redundancies.

Wish I could be made redundant. Will it be a decent package if it's offered to you @Organgrinder ?
Im retiring in July at the end of the academic year and I wake up every morning wondering how I'm going to get through the day. I CANNOT wait to leave.
I loved teaching for so many years, it gave me so much joy and satisfaction, but now I'm bored, irritable and just don't want to be there.
81 school days to go.4 -
Sadly probably not, and in my subject highly unlikely anyway. :-(1

I am holding out in the hope of redundancies - I will be too expensive to be let go but I am hoping.0

I was turned down 4 times for voluntary redundancy during four school restructure programmes. Each time I was told I was too useful, experienced and too hardworking to be let go. Nice to be told that, but did irk somewhat to see some lazy inefficient types walk away with handsome payoffs!0

The obvious solution - just don't work as hard and start messing things up on purpose....![Deleted User] said:I was turned down 4 times for voluntary redundancy during four school restructure programmes.
