I'd say it's unlikely, but no harm in getting Apple to take a look. You need evidence that it's faulty if you want JL to do anything. If it's not, then you could look at a repair which will be cheaper than buying a new one. Or as another poster has suggested, check your mother's insurance to see if accidental damage is covered.looobeee said:Yes it was in a case. I followed her up to bed and saw her carry it up. She had nothing else in her hand. Can’t stress enough that nothing happened. That’s why I am at such a loss and feeling so sickened. Is there anyway that there could’ve been a weakness in that spot which could’ve appeared after use? Surely it would’ve need substantial impact to cause that, especially being in the case. No scratch or signs of damage anywhere1 -
It is hardly catastrophic.looobeee said:So upshot is that you are all saying, like John Lewis, that we have unknowingly caused catastrophic damage to the iPad then and there’s nothing we can do. Thank you for your time

As mentioned previously go to Apple.
Some earlier models of ipad had very low thresholds for variance in the screen glass and therefore were known to cracking (this was the information from the genius bar guy serving us when we were in getting iPhones and the guy next to us was having a meltdown at the fact he was going to be charged for a replacement that even we could see it had been dropped (Currys had sent him to Apple as a last option is seemed) - the genius basically said 'we're not stupid, but were also not oblivious if the machine is immaculate and there is no visible damage we may throw good will in if pretty new - especially if you buy direct from Apple').
So there's no harm in asking Apple Genius's for guidance. You never know.
Good luck.1 -
I’m not sure but we haven’t had a chance to list it with insurance as yet. Will check her coverknightstyle said:Does her house insurance cover accidental damage?0 -
probably don't need to list low cost items on insurance ,usually only over a much higher figure .

House insurance might be the way to go but check what excess you have on the policy before doing anything.

It may be a nuisance, expensive or annoying but it isn't catastrophic.looobeee said:theonlywayisup said:

Yes, in the context of everything that's being going on in the last year, if this is "catastrophic" or "devastating", count yourself lucky!theonlywayisup said:
