    Sorry to hear that @CuppaTea.🤗

    10 /10 AFDs please@cathybird

That's for yesterday. Today I'm having a drink as it's DD1's birthday and I'm remembering all the hard work from years ago. 😁

    Hi all, Snowman day today!

Gigs rolling in for 2023, 19 so far.
That sounds a bit more promising RobM99? Not long ago you voiced concerns about the pub / live music scene and whether it was going to be viable in the future. I certainly hope things pick up from next year, it’s so important that we have a thriving live music and gig culture. Almost every week pubs near me seem to be closing and more often than not, they get converted into flats so there would never be any way back for them. And the ones that get refused permission to be converted, always mysteriously seem to burn down a few months later. Just something about the fabric of derelict pubs occupying large plots of prime building land that seems to make them especially flammable I suppose? 🤷‍♀️

Anyway, 19/24 including today thanks cathybird.
Firstly, yes I did express my concern. Circumstance change here, I now play in an established band who get gigs fairly easily, 40 a year is normal for them/us. Best gigs are 'proper music pubs' that are packed before we get there!  (I went to see an ex-member's band and the "audience" was just 5. How can any pub sustain paying out?)  On top of that we get repeat bookings - one venue I've played twice since October and we've got 2 more there in 2023. Plus I help out another band who are between bassists - I've got 3 gigs with them before February. I've also heard that local residents to some pubs are "encouraged" to complain about the noise to get them closed. I suppose for every pub that closes, the remainder are that little bit safer - no consolation to the employees though. They then become flats, as you say, then re-open as a convenience store.

But that's not important right now!  It's skiing Santa day today - Woohoo! 21/30 please. The number of people that say to me "What? You don't drink?!" with incredulity - I could have said "Yes, I have a pet hippo!" and got a lesser surprise!
Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!

    17/20 for me today please
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • 14/18, reindeer dude day. Also in other news, dining room has a ceiling of sorts, it's just plaster board right now but plasterer booked for the new year.
Nothing to see here, move along.
