Hi everyone! Coming to the end of day 4 here, so it's 4/4 alcohol free days. My sleep has been REALLY thrown out of whack, waking up in the early hours, wide awake for several hours and then dozing back off (luckily it's the weekend, so work isn't affected). I know it's just a shock to the system though, and I'm back at the gym so I'm feeling actually 'healthily' tired right now, so I think I should sleep fine.
Lard has taken a massive dive from 22 stone 8 to 22 stone 1 - That always happens in the first few days of a lardloss campaign, and then it levels out to something more sustainable and sensible.
So in generaly, feeling great, focussed and massively positive!7 -
Been off here for a few days and am on 17 AF days for this month so far. My birthday was a couple of days ago, went to a nice fine dining place so that was definitely not an AF evening ha. I enjoy the wine as much as the food tbh a reason why going all in for the never put a mind altering substance in my body ever again approach to recovery wasn't going to work for me. Tbh it always makes me laugh when you get the militant never drink alcohol again if you have an addiction to another substance lot and they smoke like chimneys. Alcohol is something I watch, have cut out generally or vastly reduced and will abstain from in quite a few situations as there are times it does lead on for me in some situations but it's not what I've been addicted to and is an entirely different substance. Anyway I'm really grateful for the pros guiding me through and understanding my individual situation as tbh the idea of not being able to enjoy a drink no matter the situation is more likely to be a factor in leading to me relapsing than enjoying a drink in the right circumstances with the right people imo. Rant over haha.
@Season_of_Mist I tried to quote your post but the moment I went off the page it dropped your quote. Anyhow, I hope you can get there too but choosing to not drink as a rule I don't think is a bad thing at all.
@marahouti A few years I've had a whisky advent calendar. Get the F&M tea one now and enjoy it more whilst I enjoy a single malt I'm fussy about it so the calendar was always a disappointment.
@Grey_Pilgrim welcome! If you used to drink everyday your sleep will be out of whack, keep with it mate, you're doing the right thing getting down the gym instead. 7lbs is a brilliant amount of weight to shift in a week and a great motivator to keep going but it will slow so don't get disheartened as time passes. My wife trained as a PT and says the long term lifestyle changes are what keeps the weight off but many won't commit to for the long term. Need to make eating less and moving more a new way of life.5 -
