6/18 for me, kind of a weird hangover not hang over feeling this morning. What's that about?
Nothing to see here, move along.5 -
Thank you for your post S_o_M, you articulate how I feel about drinking and the help this thread has been. I joined this community in mid- 2019, I do not have any numbers from that year but my alcohol consumption massively decreased. In 2020 I was AF on 327 days and 341 in 2021. So far this year I have been AF on 275 days and think I will reach or exceed last year's total. I have no wish to give up alcohol altogether but my default position is that I do not habitually drink now. I should probably add that, for various reasons, I have not been on holiday since before the first COVID lockdown so don't know if, like Rob, that will make a difference when I do.Season_of_Mist said:9/25 please cathybird, thank you.Today is exactly six months since I last drank anything alcoholic. I joined this fantastic, supportive thread (or one of its earlier iterations) back in 2018 and since that time, being part of things on here has really helped me to significantly cut down on drinking, not only the long AF stretches, but also significantly in between as well; last year for example I think I drank on 14 occasions across the whole calendar year. And when I do choose to have a few drinks, it is now well within sensible limits.
I’m not posting this list in a sort of ‘get me’ kind of way, but rather that it helps me to see it typed out and reinforce to myself that not drinking can also become a habit.
In 2018 I did three months in a row AF
In 2019 I did exactly six months AF
In 2020 I went a little longer, about six and a half months or just over 200 days in a row AF
In 2021 I drank on one single occasion between April and November
2022 has been six months AF and counting
I’m not sure if I could or couldn’t have done it without this thread, but I do know it really is a massive help in keeping myself accountable. Special thank you to cathybird for taking over the running of it and for the milestone emoji’s; it has often been commented on, nobody can quite explain the psychology of it, but they do undeniably work! So thank you.Good luck to everyone looking to cut down. It is possible.
I am 9/25 please cathybird and like S_o_M I thank you for everything you do for us on this thread. X5 -

Sometimes you can't see the edit cog but if you hover the cursor over where it usually is and press it will work anyway, even though it doesn't seem to be there. Or you can refresh the page and usually it comes back. xRobM99 said:No it's not - it's 4/27 and the edit cog thingy has gone! Oh just ignore me, I'm not a morning person, plainly!

Inspirational post @Season_of_Mist - thanks for sharing your AF journey - you have done amazingly well.
Declariing early for today on 5/10 please cathybird3 -
Morning all,
Well done to all with the long stretches that I've just read over. It's given me the motivation to keep going after falling off the wagon over the weekend. I managed a 9 month stretch between June 2021 and April 2022, but the summer vibes got the better of me and I started drinking again socially. Since September though, I've only drunk alcohol on 3 days (2 of which were this weekend!) so I'm feeling quite pleased with that overall.
I'm on 8/31 now thanks @cathybird. Not going to reach 31/31 now but confident I can get into the high 20's.
