Just got back from dinner out with friends and pleased to report I am on 8/31 for today. My friends were drinking wine and I had a couple of (delicious) mocktails - when we got the bill, they were more expensive than the wine! ๐คฌBooks read 2023 - 49/756

9/25 please cathybird, thank you.ยToday is exactly six months since I last drank anything alcoholic. I joined this fantastic, supportive thread (or one of its earlier iterations) back in 2018 and since that time, being part of things on here has really helped me to significantly cut down on drinking, not only the long AF stretches, but also significantly in between as well; last year for example I think I drank on 14 occasions across the whole calendar year. And when I do choose to have a few drinks, it is now well within sensible limits.
Iโm not posting this list in a sort of โget meโ kind of way, but rather that it helps me to see it typed out and reinforce to myself that not drinking can also become a habit.
In 2018 I did three months in a row AF
In 2019 I did exactly six months AF
In 2020 I went a little longer, about six and a half months or just over 200 days in a row AF
In 2021 I drank on one single occasion between April and November
2022 has been six months AF and counting
Iโm not sure if I could or couldnโt have done it without this thread, but I do know it really is a massive help in keeping myself accountable. Special thank you to cathybird for taking over the running of it and for the milestone emojiโs; it has often been commented on, nobody can quite explain the psychology of it, but they do undeniably work! So thank you.ยGood luck to everyone looking to cut down. It is possible.ย9 -

AS I saw here ( I think) - "I control alcohol now. It does not control me." Sober October? Well, the Menorca trip shot that to bits albeit in a small way bit still. NoNovember- OK bring it on.
ย It's now 2022 so from January - all together now...
Alc' free 23!
Oh and 5/27. No I'm not changing my target, that defeats the point of having one (in my view).
And now - tea!Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!5
