4 please.
Caught myself during the late afternoon / early evening 'reminiscing', struggling to leave the office despite not needing to be there as I'd taken an extended lunch with family and felt guilty about it. My overworking and just generally not looking after myself or family to work well into the night has not helped me over the years and been a trigger. I'm lucky to have a very good member of staff who has worked for me for a long time, she knew I was going to sit in my office all night and she insisted on locking up together.
I echo @maggiem's sentiments @satchmo1, life is incredibly cruel.4 -
4/18 please......
Nothing to see here, move along.4 -
Hi all! Just catching up on this thread after being away - I did manage my July target of 15/15 despite holidays so pleased with that.
@cathybird - please can I have 15 again for August, starting well on 3/15 for today.

Hi all. Certainly an insight into other people's lives on here. Do you ever look at a group of people - on a train, in an audience, at a sport event and think "What IS your life like?" I do!
Anyway the dreaded Covid has struck here and for the first time in many, many months I have taken a paracetamol. I'm fed up with my eyes hurting. If anyone has some energy I could use, please send. Feeding the cat =^..^= is a major effort! Now the important bit, 5/30 (478 consecutive AFDs in UK!) and once again aiming for a full set of emojis. On top if that, football has been cancelled for Saturday so a bigthere, have to wait to see my adopted club until Sept 24 @ Billericay (Unless I can wangle a camping trip to Sussex! Not impossible...)
Big "Well done" to all doing well - to those that aren't, you can do this. I did and have no intention of going anywhere near my old ways. Try this - just write down (in whatever media you choose) "I want to give up because..." and put 5 reasons. Not mine, not anyone else's but your own. Here's a selection but try to pick your own;- Costs money - we all know that. Now calculate how much it's costing you. It was £150+ a month here (EEK!).
- Does you no good. Alcohol, Satan's Bile, is a poison. It's an industrial solvent and cleaner!
- Waste of calories. One pint 5% beer = 239 calories or a standard size Mars bar or 20 minutes @ 6mph on a treadmill.
- No nutritional value whatsoever. Who drinks because of the vitamin and mineral content? It's not Kale!
- People do/say things they wouldn't when sober. Not that I've ever sent a drunken text...cough...I even wrote a poem about it! Ever bought something on line while UTI? Me? Nooooo...OK maybe.
- Makes you feel rubbish next day and you can't drive in the morning, 27% of drink drivers are caught the morning after. If you (generic "you") drink because of problems, it won't help. The problem will still be there tomorrow.
- Ever heard "Don't you remember doing that last night?" and thinking ...er...no. Never good! (Probably makes a good story but that's another issue...m'lud!)
Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!7 -
Good afternoon everyone.
Sorry to hear you are unwell Rob, I hope you feel better very soon. I can't disagree with any of your reasons to avoid alcohol, mine are very similar and as a mid-sixties woman I know that together with other lifestyle changes I improve my chances of retaining my 'marbles' for a few years.
I am 5/25 please cathybird. Thank you. X
