Giving Up/Cutting Down Alcohol Thread Part 17

thriftylass said:Had a drink tonight, so still 3/22. DH had an interesting weekend. He lost our last remaining car key down a drain in his dad's city. Luckily we didn't go with him but stayed home. Anyway, after a frustrating day of trying to get help from the A4 (they wanted £400 to sort a new key, 3rd time they let us down but that's a different story) the local council workers came to the rescue. They came out on a Sunday for free to dig the drain and found the key.
So he brought a few drinks in. Will limit to two though. At least it is an "occasion" not just a bored midweek drink (although having written that it sounds like a lame excuse).I think I’d struggle if I had to not only fight against my own inner drink demons, but resist someone else’s too. It’s good you acknowledge it. But it does make it doubly harder for you to achieve your goals. Hats off to you for trying.I went to bed early and despite waking up lots in the night I enjoyed the feeling off getting up without a wine head on. Fresh for work and the week. I need to remember this feeling. My goal is no mid week drinking (despite the sunny weather) and drinking two nights a week max. Will be checking in here frequently and having lots of green days on my app will help me focus.Have a good week everyone.Live for the moment and plan for the future5 -

Good morning.
Thanks @CuppaTea. It is definitely harder but I just need to keep trying. Especially since I'm easily led when it come to drink like using the excuse from yesterday. Luckily feel fine today and had a decent sleep. Already told him I will have a sober week as work will be crazy this week.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/255 -
Good morning
Another clear day yesterday so 5/30 for me.
Thriftylass, please name that local council, they deserve a mighty thank you.
My OH works for a London borough where they charge £300 and no guarantee that they will recover your keys.
Have a great day everyone

And another incentive to do this right this time. My new job will get lot more taxing. Plus I will get an honours student in September for 3 months and cannot mess this up. I need to grow up, stop clinging onto my carefree childless twenties which I realised some of my drinking and staying up late is connected too.. They are long enough ago now and I need to accept that life isn't like back then anymore.
I started finding and reading articles that offer some specific advice if only one in the relations ship is stopping (and how I obvioulsy can't dictate OH to stop too).
