My Champagne moments today:
Thanks to my son waking me up at 5.05am this morning and breaking my sleep, I slept through my alarm for 8.30am. I had a meeting with Will for the Windrush Project. This project is in conjunction with the Primary school next door to Blackfriars Settlement. I did not wake up to 9.30am. I had a quick freshen up, brushed my teeth, got dressed at lightning speed and headed out the door. I managed to get to Blackfriars Settlement for 10.30am. After a quick chat about what we had been up to since our last meeting, Will set up the mic, did a sound check with me, then he began to record my second hand oral history of my parents journey to England from Montserrat. Then I moved on to their life in England and why they were so shocked not to be accepted in England, their Motherland. Will is going to edit the sound track of me, then send me a copy. He will share my recollections with the school children, then come back to me with the children's questions.
I went to Theatre Peckham this evening for the Poetry Foyer Open Mic event. It was such a positive, fantastic evening. It was jam packed, so when I went up to perform my poem I Need To Feel Free, I felt nervous, but I did not let my nerves show.
There were so many poets who were far more skilled and have more experience than me, but I clapped, clicked my fingers and whooped with delight for all of the other poets.I had 6 people come up to me to praise me in the break, which was so gratifying, as I was in such edifying company tonight.

Phoebe, thank you. Yes it will be exciting if I get the opportunity to write a play.
No surprise that you have had to put your writing on hold, as you are using so many of your other creative skills in making your home so fabulous. It is a real shame that you lost your notes on your iPad.
I write all of my poems and short stories longhand first in A5 notebooks before typing them up on my laptop, so I always have my hand written versions as a back up.5 -
Champagne moment today - sitting in my garden in the sun (with my coat on) and drinking my morning cuppa. Was so lovely and quiet listening to the birds.Debt free and Keeping on Track5

Hello everyone. Lots going on on the thread. So much good stuff. 💃. , SUgarbaby. How exciting!!! Well done you. When you are a rich and famous playwright we can say "we knew you when". 🥂Well it's been a funny old week. In a nice way. Lots of nice little champagne moments.I don't want to go into details but a troubling family issue which has been going on for some time has finally been resolved 🤞at least I hope so. Then on Tuesday I lost a front crown, thankfully the dentist was able to reattach it. I really didn't fancy walking around with one of my front teeth missing, 😱.I have mentioned before I do need some pretty extensive dental work fairly soonish but I'm hoping to hold out until after the house move. One lot of stress at a time. 😉
Mrs P a truly gorgeous spring like day here too today. My youngest son came for brunch, he cleaned out his van on my drive whilst I did some gardening. It was lovely to be outside in the warm sunshine at last.7 -
Thank you Sugarbaby 😊
I do have lots of journal type books for writing purposes, but many of my notes, jottings, research etc have been made whilst a passenger in the car and I find it easier to type than to write in that situation 🙄
I've *lost* 100,000+ words on the dead iPad, which is so frustrating as I'll never manage to recall everything I'd written ☹️ Hopefully I'll be able to get them retrieved at some point, but - as you rightly said - I have more pressing stuff to deal with right now 😉
Helen, hope you get your dental work sorted soon! I'm so glad I made the effort to deal with mine... although I'm not finished yet 😬
Anyway, champagne moment today - lots of sunshine here too, but apart from a stroll around the garden I didn't have time to do anything productive out there. Next week, hopefully!
I did get more eggshell done (the door) and have - almost - made a decision on whether to use our vintage mossy green velvet damask GP & J Baker curtains (my preference) or get new fabric and make something different (DH's preference) as my latest bunch of lovely fabric samples arrived in the post 😀Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

My Champagne moment yesterday evening was going to Poetic Unity's Open Mic event at Black Cultural Archives in Brixton. It was another great evening of spoken word artistes. There were also some performance poets that incorporated acting in their performances. The poets were mostly young people under 25 years old, but their prodigious talent and skills were absolutely breathtaking. Once again I listen and watched and I was awestruck.
I performed 2 of my poems: Let Me Be, How Did I Become A Poet and an autobiographical short story: 14 Days. They were received with the spirit of generosity.5 -
Sugarbaby my DH was born and bred in Peckham! We lived together in Forest Hill. We left and moved to Cornwall 20 years ago though.Debt free and Keeping on Track4
