Good Morning and Happy New Year 🎉
The fridge got filled up yesterday morning and then the afternoon delivery was stashed in various household cupboards. DM sat for most of the day working with the watercolour pencils happily, she's really enjoying being creative again.Somehow I managed to stay awake for the Bells 🔔 as it came to me that perhaps it may be DM's last. I'm so glad I did as we toasted 'absent friends' and watched the fireworks being televised from over the Wallace Monument in Stirling. DM drank a minute amount of wine so I had most of it. 🥂 I watched the end of a TV programme as Deacon Blue were on singing Dignity and then Queen of the New Year, both favourites of mine.Today will be a feast of leftovers and films with Dr Who to look forward to later. DM and I will watch the short film Dinner for One, something huge numbers of Germans do every New Year for some strange reason. It's funny, delightful and very old.
Now it's 'back to old clothes and porridge'. No more silly spending. I am looking forward to a slow return of normal life and will stop moaning about restrictions. Seeing Sir Tom Jones talking about having had the COVID inoculation was lovely, as was his singing.Best get a move on! Happy Friday to all.13 -
Morning all
We managed to stay up till just after midnight there were a couplr of fireworks here but they were not too bad, i woke at 4 this morning for my usual two hours and then went back to sleep till 9.30 so must have needed it.
DD is off to see a friend today for a walk so I might start to take the decs down, OH will do the heavy lifting and chop the tree up ready for going in the brown bin.
Not sure about dinner tonight will go and look in the fridge / freezer after this we have lots in so wont starve.
Happy New Year to my lovely ladies xxxx13 -
I had a very enjoyable evening last night and woke up feeling fairly buoyant this morning.Ready to meet the New Year head-on, I was out in the garden as soon as it started getting light. Obviously well wrapped up, I did a little bit of tidying up and surveying of the land in general. It’s good to have a plan 😃 I might start sowing some seeds indoors this week.I intend to spend no money on my garden this year.14

Happy New Year folks.Lovely to see new folks in the Daily. Welcome!
Went to bed early, read then happily just asleep when fireworks started and frightened our dog. She was fine until the very loud fireworks this past 5th Nov but now scared. Rosy Red are you able to share what you give your dog or could you send me a PM?Off to meet DD and DGSs for a walk. Nice and sunny.X13 -
Morning All
Happy New Year!
I didn't stay up as I have the DGC staying, I wouldn't have heard the fireworks but DGD came in to tell me they were going off. She ended up in my bed so not much sleep - she woke up at 5.50 and DGS came in at 6.15. We've made pancakes for breakfast and some cupcakes to decorate later. Both bathed and dressed, we'll go for a little walk in a while, they are playing very well at the moment so it seems a shame to disturb them.
Hope you're feeling OK topsy, look after yourself.
Lovely to see some new faces, welcome to you.
We've been invited to a new years lunch at friends over the road so no cooking as such for me, just the yorkies to make.
Enjoy your day whatever you're up to. Take care. XX

Morning all and all I can wish you is A Different New Year. Hoping against hope that it is better than last year.
I dimly remember a couple of fireworks going off at midnight but they must have been some distance away. We are a staid lot round here.
My resolution this year is to get a few outstanding jobs on the house polished off. Starting with door handles. Now that wouldn't be on a lot of people's wish list, but it would be great to not have to poke my finger into a hole to pull a door open.
Lampshades will be next.
I might even bribe my son to bring his tool box up, a lemon drizzle cake should do it.
Of course, it all depends on which Tier we end up in. At the moment we all seem to be under house arrest.
I don't think I have anything useful to say today, but I'd like to thank you all for sharing your day to day events. When you live on your own it helps to hear how other people are coping.
A better New Year to you all.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.14 -
Morning all! We have a powdery sprinkling of snow this morning, nothing like the two foot I ordered, yes,I'm the mad mare who absolutely loves it. We did nothing exciting last night, that's the quietest new years eve I've spent since I was 18. We watched a film and had grazing food, of which there is still loads left, so same again all day today. As and when nibbling. Celery sticks and dips for breakfast
I went to bed at four ish so I'm quite impressed I was up in time to hear the cuckoo clock singing ten o clock.
I have no idea how people got their hands on the fireworks we had last night. They seemed to be proper show fireworks, enormous things banging away. I like fireworks but when they started in earnest at half eleven and carried on till half twelve OH did remark it sounded as if WW3 had started and Fatty ran shivering under the bed. It was foggy so we didn't see everyone's apart from over the road which put on an impressively loud display and over the way where I had to stand on the raised bed to see them but I was greatful to all the people who had spent their money so we could watch their fireworksvery MSE start to the year...They also seemed to stagger them well so we ran back and fore watching...
Gers, myself and one group of friends watch that every year too, we have for years now, and funnily enough, it came via a Greek tradition. And we were thrilled when we found a colour version. I still laugh at it every year. tru,we will both be doing the binge watching of that later, OH was asking if it had dropped yet at twelve last night...I wish you all a better year to come [and no zombie apocalypse please]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -

Well it was morning and. I started typing!
Thanks for the thread Nelson and hugs to all those in need.
Welcome to the newbies, my posts are always boring but I don't let that stop me.
Another day of walking Beano and doing crochet here, oh and cooking meals, like I said, boring.
Have a good day everyone.
