    Hi,

Sorry for being missing in action, sadly my boy lost his mum on July 10th two days after her birthday, while we were away for a weekend break, so we dropped everything and drove four hours to his parents to try and help sort all the funeral arrangements and help where I could.

I had only met her twice and she was in hospital but it was a shock for all as she was due to come out. I therefore have only just got back and the boy has gone back to work. I was not prepared for all the work involved in arranging a funeral, but i'm glad I was able to help the family. Many decisions wouldn't have been made if I hadn't just stepped in and gave my female prospective. I think my boy, and his dad just wasn't sure what to do, and his brother is unique in his own way with special needs so also tried to make sure he was also understanding that his mum wouldn't be coming back. I think he understood in his own way and it was very emotional when he said after the service that it was "sad she was in the box" and when I asked him who was in the box, and he said "My mumma" it was what the family needed to hear as we all were not sure how much he had understood about the service.

My boy hasn't really shown any form of emotion and im hoping that he grieves and not just holds it in, i'm not sure how I can help him apart from being by his side if and when he wants to talk.

So I am catching up in admin while he is at work, being away from my laptop for three weeks I have a fair few bits to do, but its keeping me busy.

Keep potting, we are into our eighth month of the year (when did that happen) it all adds up

Stay safe and cherish your love ones

@Westie983 I am so sorry to hear of your sad news, on the loss of your partners parent  :'(

Sadly, despite us all knowing that one day we will all die, it’s not until in many cases it happens to our very nearest and dearest that we realise how much work is involved in making all the arrangements and we have to learn as we go along what we need to do. I’m sure your help and comfort was very much appreciated by him and his family.

On a personal note I would say that grieve effects everyone differently and goes through many different stages, over a long period of time, sometimes it’s after the funeral and things start to return to the ‘new normal that it can hit you, it starts to sinks in that your loved one isn’t here anymore. Your man knowing he has you by his side is helping and giving him great comfort I’m sure. You sound lovely Westie so just be yourself.

I hope the memories you all share help to bring some comfort to you all.

Take lots of care Westie983 xx

    Hi all,

I will update the spreadsheet as soon as I can. I'm currently on holiday in Majorca, treating the boy to some sun.
