There are plenty of videos on YouTube showing how to install Google Play store on an amazon fire tablet. I have done it myself on the fire 8HD one. Quite simple, it involves downloading 3 or 4 small programs (apk files) and installing them in the right order. Works fine.

Well call me cautious but since Google Play store is the source of all my apps on the tablet (including browsing, authenticator and banking apps) then from a security point of view I think I would rather have a fully supported version of Google Play e.g. on a Samsung device than have to do a work around by installing 4 unknown apks from the internet before I can get it

    others may disagree

Quick look on Currys earlier showed a Samsung tablet for around £110. Quite a basic model, but more than adequate for someone using it for general private purposes.

This would be my personal recommendation.

I can recommend choosing one of the options presented here. Budget options at different prices depending on your wishes and preferences. I took a Lenovo 10.1 Inch Tablet for myself and it works great, copes with the functions for which it was purchased.
