Totally with you on the kids amazing you thing. We constantly muse on how we've ended up with 3 kids, amazed that its been allowed for us to have any kids at all, amazed that they're all still breathing, amazed that we haven't had any broken bones (I've said that now haven't I!) and as to how clever they are...they obviously take after their Grandad(s)!!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......5

Hi Greying, I don’t know you at all but from what I’ve read on here you are doing an amazing job in very tricky times, your little one is very lucky to have you and it’s clear you are great parents. I don’t want to make light of your worries, but personally a childhood rich in love and time spent putting the effort in is something money can’t buy. I hope things get a bit easier for you and keep plodding we are all cheering you on 🙂MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁6

Forgot to mention, I’ve just found a new website for low cost cooking ‘tiny budget cooking.com’ apologies if you already know of it, it’s not as frugal as Jack Monroe’s but there may be something of use there!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4

Good Morning !
newgirly - thank you for your kind and supportive comment, which is greatly appreciated. I think I had just reached my saturation point, and buckled. I know that there are others going through far worse situations than us, and when any of us reach that saturation, or buckle point, it is such a blessing to know that there are others rushing towards us with support. But oh how I hope love and time makes a good childhood for LG, it's pretty much all we can offer at the mo, but at least we can be generous with it 😊
No, I don't think I have heard of that website tinybudgetcooking.com I just had a quick look and there seems to be some interesting recipes there. Thank you so much for mentioning it - I shall have a proper ganders in a mo. Interestingly, it looks like one of the recipes has several of the ingredients that I was going to use for tonight's tea anyway - I shall have to see which is the best/most interesting way to orchestrate them and report back here! 😉 Thank you once again, for taking the time and trouble to post, and for posting a link to a resource that I'm sure will be of use to many of us.
Tea last night was as slated. LG had black olive pizza from the freezer, and there were 5 slices of mushroom pizza stored into the freezer, so that is next Friday's tea covered - with some 'bonus' slices for another tea in another month 😁
Tea this evening will NOT be curry. And it will NOT feature dhal. As per my "wager" 😉 with ed 😁 I was initially going to make a buddha bowl based on halloumi. But a quick glance at the website mentioned by newgirly, has shown up a dish that uses Halloumi and beans in a stew, so I'll investigate that before making the final decision.
Today will be a spend day, but we will only need the final "essentials" to take us to the end of the month, so at least a LSD. The menu plan for next week has been done - but as ever, I try to be flexible (^see above U-Turn 🤣), so there may be some movement or swapping about.
Today will be spent decluttering the computer (maybe it will work faster......) and hopefully knitting. A wash is on and will go out on the line for as long as possible.
Right, can't think of anything else that is MSE/MFW.
Thank you wonderful MFW'rs. Thank you.

Ha ha ha - dearest rtandon, i did actually ponder whether to put a warning sign up before rashly writing that our fodder this evening would not included dhal........ Still at least we had pizza & wedges last night 🤣 Predictable? Moi? Much? 🤣🤣🤣
I write the following, just in case it may help someone. I know all vehicle journeys have to be 'essential travel only' at the mo, but IF you use your car, and you have a photocard driving licence, do take a second to ensure that it is still in date - the pesky things have to be renewed every 10 yrs. I think renewal was put on pause during lockdown 1, but that was rescinded in October. And do not rely on getting a reminder, 2 months prior to renewal. For whatever reason, we didn't receive a renewal notice, and a licence went out of date......... Lets face it, we've all so much on our plates at the moment, renewal dates for X Y and Z are probably the last thing on anyone's radar. However, It has cost more to renew an out-of-date licence that it does an in-date one, and if you choose to use the Post Office Service, make sure that you know where your nearest local branch that can perform the function is. Our nearest was in the next market town along, not in our own town........
Lunch has been munched - crumpets from a packet of '20p for 9 wArburt0ns' that were a YS find in MrL last week and which went in the freezer. Toasted and topped with a fancy cheese that was received as a Christmas gift and then the last tin of beans (in the whole house!!) was ladled on top. LG ate a toasted crumpet and some beans (they didn't like the cheese - but did have a peanut butter sandwich too), so it was more or less a lunch that we could all share - which is such a help. It was also a reasonably cheap affair that used up storecupboard ingredients - and was a warming lunch for a cold day.
Right, I'm going to go and get the washing in (again). There has been weak sunshine and a breeze, so quite how well they will have dried, will have to be seen. But it is starting to cloud over again, and the temperature will soon start dropping, so I'm going to quit whilst I'm ahead. At least the snow shower that saw me bringing in the washing before, was short-lived.
Ta for popping by. Appreciated.
