I've got two mobile related problems:
1. I don't have any kind of working phone* and am expecting a phone call on Monday and need some kind of phone, preferably the cheapest possible, must be payG, and I must be able to get it before Monday.
2. I have an old three sim card (standard size) and at some point need to use it again (my old smartphone broke ages ago), as it is the 2FA for my email.
Am I right in thinking that the three sim won't work in the very cheap, £15 phones? If so I'll have to eventually get another smartphone, but I can put that off. (Unless there's a very cheap one available, but it would need to be secure, with a supported android os)
*I should add, I have landline problems (a no dialtone fault), it's being sorted out, hopefully, but I fear not before Monday when I'm expecting a phonecall from UC, and they've put the phonecall off twice already, and sounded annoyed)

Argos, Tesco or Asda sell phones if your needing one short notice.
With Tesco (and possibly Asda) you can view them and takeaway there and then, Argos you may end up returning IF its faulty which will leave you short with time.

An old nokia could do the job, example here, could be available to collect on saturday.

I dont think a 3 in 1 sim will come before monday which is when the OP needs the phone working, is the OP not better off buying a phone like the Nokia but this is all dependant on the sim the OP has is still working as they say the old phone broke ages ago.

OP @novamotion when was the last time you used the sim ?
Payg sims dont you need to use it every month or so ?

If the 3 sim is registered to you and there is a 3 shop open near you they can provide a replacement sim on the same number
You can check your my3 account or create one first
    Take ID photo and address.

One of my 3 sims is still working as far as I can remember it had sat switched off for over a  year.

Obvious question but do you know someone with a spare phone or will lend you one for a call?

You are lucky that the pedant who jumped on me for writing full size hasn't tried to be clever again! B)
I made the horrendous error of not writing standard sim.

A 3 SIM requires a 3G handset, so an old Nokia dumbphone won't work. If the SIM hasn't been used to send a text or make a call 'in a long time' (6 months or more), then the number will have been recycled and lost anyway.
Most, but not all of the cheap feature phones will have 3G capability.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
